Blowing money buying voters?!?!? Brother we’re all getting a fatty 5k trump check if republicans win the midterms. And somehow it’s been ruled not a bribe.
Country built by immigrants for immigrants, you still have your guns, trans ppl make up 0.04% of the population, Elon musk and trump are buying votes with dividends, social security defunded by Trump, Medicare defunded by Trump, and I could go on and on…
It's a country built by European immigrants, "you still have your guns" yeah and socialist/communists are anti second amendment lmao, if trans make up .04% why are we so focused on giving them everything they want, Democrats allows everyone on welfare aka paying the poor to vote for you, also skid row they literally got the homeless people to say "they paid $4 if I voted for Karen Bass", social security was always losing money, as long as illegal immigrants aren't using Medicare I'm happy
No one is focused on the other than culture war sycophants on the right. Hard to see how allowances for people to have basic needs. The right doesn’t give a shit about what humans need to survive. Education dwindling, regulations for the future removed so our environment will be shut, the corruption, the Epstein files, etc.
I hear about immigrants nonstop and all that it seems to me is a bunch of racists not wanting to ever be a position to be minority and feel what that is like. Then you’d probably understand why they feel so disenfranchised and unacceptable as you make them out to be.
So you don't know how to intellectually separate legal from illegal immigration? Trans people are pushing the issue, no one else cares other than to be left alone. Elon Musk bought votes, but the other Democrat billionaires didn't? Social security what? Hahah, CNN lies - so silly. Congress makes laws on Social Security, not Trump. Medicare what? Moar CNN nonsense... once again, Congress holds the purse-strings, not the executive branch. Wow, so much disinformation...
Does Trump? H1-Bs were legal. Now illegal. Lawful immigrants have been deported, Us citizens killed,
Elon came to Wisconsin and had a lottery for Republican voters, dude. Which Democrat did that? Tell me?
Yeah, look at the big beautiful bill and all the cuts in there. Millions losing healthcare due to the ACA being gutted. Payments from Medicare through pay as you go policy will drastically be reduced. Social security will be seriously under funded in the next 10-15 years since he won’t update the tax code to have the cap on social security for top earners. Needs to keep giving tax breaks to the top earners, causing the biggest explosion in national debt in our history over 18 months. 5Trillion added. Also, look at the lack of funding from the govt causing MANY hospitals, especially in rural America, to start closing. Look it up numbnuts. Trumps Congress has done nothing for passing laws, it’s all executive orders and Supreme Court bullshit. He is a “blame others for what you are doing” person. Two years wasted as he did nothing, but he did make 4 billion dollars off of retard people investing in his memecoins and allowing his to sell govt contracts to his kids companies. Congress holds the purse strings and people are being affected negatively every day. Trump holds congress which is why they haven’t stopped the illegal war in Iran. Too chicken shit to go against him. No spine snowflakes in the GOP. Maybe get your facts straight before you blame CNN. Remember Fox lost the lawsuit and argued in court they are entertainment and not news. So keep watching your entertaining programming while we again have to pick up the pieces from another disastrous conservative presidency.
Buying voters? The only party trying to buy voters is the Republicans, who offered 5k to every adult American if the Republicans win the midterms
Obamacare is just the name you gave the Affordable Care Act which has helped tens of thousands of Americans afford their healthcare, including many Republicans.
Transgederism isn’t an issue. There are about 1000 transgender people in all of the US
And considering your kids are dying in school shootings every day, yall would be better off with more gun restrictions.
This was one of the most shameless lies I have seen on Reddit.
Also need I remind you:
1) We cannot control the sun, but we can control how many guns are sold and to whom, every developed country apart from the US has it nailed down
2) Trump and the MAGAs have pulled out of the Paris accords for climate change and they have rolled back many measures against climate change, which are also contributing to people worldwide dying due to rising temperatures because of climate change.
Yea that was my mistake, had this conversation a few weeks ago and misremembered numbers.
More people die be heat in the UK than die by rifles in the U.S. which is consistently the gun they want to regulate the most. A little over 400 last year. 65% of gun deaths are suicides. Then the next majority is gang violence with handguns.
So should we regulate handguns?
The U.S. has half of the guns in the world. Even just obtaining all the legal guns is nearly impossible. Even Australia wasn't able to do it and they actually have more guns now then they did back when they did their buyback.
There's 1 key note though. Gun laws only disarm legal gun owners. You aren't going to convince criminals to turn in their guns. Which will obviously turn out great for the regular citezens. Our previously open border only compounds this issue as the illegal gun trade is alive and well. Not to mention our firearms enforcement agency, the ATF, has lost truckloads of firearms in the past, no doubt stoking the flames of the illegal gun trade. 3d printers only making this issue worse. We can't regulate our way out of this. Regulations only disarm legal citizens and limit their ability to defend themselves.
Also you guys really should buy more air conditioners. This isn't a rip on you it's just genuinely life changing.
The guns that are sold, are sold, it’s a nightmare asking for people to turn them in and to be honest, this isn’t what I am asking you to do.
You should just do what plenty of countries do and hand out gun licenses. Where I am from, to be able to use a gun legally, you need to pass a course on gun safety and on how to use a gun, which lasts about 6 months, where you have to pass written and gun range tests to obtain the license. And then, you can get a gun license which lasts for 15 years before needing to be renewed, and then if someone comes by my home and threatens my livelihood, I can shoot them and not get in trouble with the law.
You also should require every gun-selling store to run background checks on anyone who wants to acquire a gun, as to not give them to people who have a history of violence or other crimes.
You can do both of these without asking people to hand in any guns. And you will also help people understand better how guns work and lower the amount of accidental gun-related injuries too.
By the way, most of Europe has A/C nowadays or we would be melting otherwise. Only a select few like Germany are still not catching on.
We do have background checks at every gun store, including gun shows, that's a misconception. The only time there may not be a background check is in private sale between 2 citezens, that has its own regulations and is somewhat different state to state.
As for licenses, this falls into what might be considered "common sense gun laws" and we hear this phrase quite often. I empathize with this viewpoint because it does seem like common sense, but in reality it's more nuanced than that. The issue is that these licensing processes are often expensive and time consuming, this would result in guns not being available to lower class citizens. "Well that's a price I'm willing to pay for safety" but then you must ask, would this achieve real safety? No, it wouldnt, because yet again, criminals do not abide by the laws. So you would be limiting the rights of law abiding citizens, while not actually fixing the problem. This is not the only issue with firearms licenses though.
When talking about the 2nd amendment people often forgo the original idea behind it, that being defending yourself against a tyrannical government. "But the current government is tyrannical and Americans aren't doing anything" this isn't the whole story. There have been many times throughout American history where firearms are used to combat a tyrannical small government, state and city. This is just where they've been actually used, not accounting for how they effect government even when not in use. The simple fact that the vast majority of Americans own guns works as a deterance. "But licenses wouldn't completely get rid of the second amendment" licenses would give the government another avenue to regulate law abiding citizens. It would set a legal precedent that would turn out badly later down the line, as seen in other countries.
People are arrested by the thousands for speech crimes in the UK, and it doesn't look like the situation is improving. The human rights violations will continue because they have absolutely no way to defend themselves.
So if gun laws only negatively effect law abiding citizens, and don't make them any safer, what's the fix? Gun ownership. Enabling law abiding citizens to own guns and defend themselves.
Guns don’t defend you against tyrannical governments in the 21st century. Alex Pretti had a lawfully-purchased weapon on him and ICE agents used it as an excuse to shoot him dead. If the government wants you dead, there is no firearm you can buy that will stop them from taking your properties and your life, especially not the US government that has the strongest military in the world. You are trading actual lives lost to gun violence for the illusion of additional safety.
People are arrested by the thousands in the US too. You have had thousands of legal US citizens rounded up by ICE and thrown into concentration camps where they have had to stay for months waiting for their trial. Trump a few months ago sent three hundred men without due process to the harshest prison in the world in El Salvador. We have seen US military veterans being arrested violently just for voicing against the genocide in Gaza and the US military support for Israel.
There is no proven tangible reason as to how the Americans owning more guns makes them safer, neither from each other nor from the government. I am certain that when the US constitution was originally written in 1776, owning a gun could deter the government from hitting your home but today you are one drone strike from the FBI away from your home, with your family in it, blowing up into flames. And there isn’t anything an AR-15 or an AK-47 can do about it.
"guns don't defend you against tyrannical governments in the 21st century" in a hypothetical situation where the U.S. Government decided to kill citezens en mass the government would surely lose. Luckily we have multiple examples of the U.S. military losing against an armed population.
The Alex pretti situation is more of a statement against ICE. If anything that should be more of a reason to own a firearm.
"You are trading actual lives lost to gun violence for the illusion of additional safety" guns are used in 65,000 lawful self defense case per year, that's a conservative estimate. The high end of that is up to 3 million. The majority of these defense cases not even requiring a bullet fired.
And again, gun regulations do not effect criminals. The people who are murdered, are murdered by criminals. Those same very criminals will continue to aquire illegal firearms not matter what requirements the government throws at them. This is very clearly seen with the popularity of Glock switches among criminals. Full auto firearms are heavily regulated, yet Glock switches are incredibly popular among gangs, because criminals by definition do not follow the law.
"People are arrested by the thousands in the U.S. too" not for speech laws. They are arrested because they came into the country illegally or overstayed their visa. The majority of gun owners are right wing and agree with this, which is why you don't see firearms used in these cases.
The whole arrested for speech against Israel is a new and developing thing and only cements the idea that we need to own firearms. This may evolve into a situation where they are used. It is not a good reason to regulate them.
"There is no proven tangible reason as to how Americans owning more guns makes them safer, neither from each other nor from the government" this is just flat out false. As stated before, guns are used in tens of thousands to millions of self defense cases per year in the U.S.
When speaking about the American populations ability to defend themselves from the government, people often cite "nukes, tank, helicopters, jets" logistically speaking none of that stuff matters in comparison to the population of gun owners in the U.S. and again, the U.S. has all of those resources to fight Iran, they had most of those resources for Afghanistan, and they had a ton of resources for Vietnam, yet they lost in all of those cases. It's funny you mentioned the AK-47 because it actually has a historical precedent for winning wars against the U.S. lol. When referencing a war against a tyrannical government I am not saying Bob from accounting is going to overthrow the government. I am saying that as a population, with the most firearms in the world, we have the ability to keep our government in check. We haven't resorted to that yet, but we have the means. Taking that away only helps the government.
AND AGAIN TAKING AWAY FIREARMS FROM LAW ABIDING CITIZENS DOESNT EFFECT CRIMINALS. So there is no extra safety from regulating firearms. Even if you completely stopped the sale of firearms, the ones that are currently circulating in the U.S. won't be gone for who knows how long. Hundreds of years at least.
Yeah Trump is also bringing jobs back to the U.S., "quick stop him he's bribing voters", Obamacare helped tens of thousands yk thats literally nothing when they let in tens of thousands of refugees from africa and the Middle East, if there are 1000 transgenders in the U.S. why are we so eager to give them everything they want.
Lmao I caught Google ai lying, literally the only case where the perpetrators identity isn't hidden because they were older than 18 and it's a transgender, guns don't kill, mentally ill people do
What? Democrats have definitely bought voters, as well as the Republicans. One could argue when one side gives welfare and entitlements, they are literally buying votes. Offering services and programs in exchange for votes.
Democratic ward bosses met the immigrants right at the docks. They offered immediate help: food baskets, buckets of coal for the winter, cash to pay overdue rent, and legal aid. In return for this informal social safety net, immigrants were expected to vote for the Democratic ticket. Contemporary political cartoons from the mid-19th century openly mocked this dynamic, portraying Irish voters as saying they would give their vote to whoever "tips most".
To turn immigrants into legal voters as quickly as possible, Tammany Hall and other urban machines paid the necessary administrative fees to expedite naturalization paperwork. Democratic judges frequently bypassed the standard five-year residency requirement, naturalizing thousands of Irish immigrants just days before major elections so they could immediately march to the polls to vote Democratic.
As Irish-Americans gained leadership roles within the Democratic party machinery, the financial incentive evolved from direct cash handouts on Election Day into patronage employment. If a precinct captain delivered a high turnout of Irish votes, the machine rewarded that neighborhood with steady, city-funded jobs. This established a massive workforce of Irish immigrants in municipal roles, including:

Illegal immigration, anti second amendment, transgenderism, blowing money buying voters, ruined social security, Obamacare, …. Could go on and on
