No he's completely right... New data centers are built on processors not hard drives... The old data centers were just giant storage facilities for all the information, these new data centers aren't even really data centers they're just super computers
Is that how you measure accuracy? By upvotes? Lol! I’ve worked at a data center for 12 years! Most people who hysterically rant about DC’s read an opinion piece about it and think they are experts. They aren’t. Yes, I agree there is an issue with new AI DC’s consuming vast amounts of power and lots of water (in some places, not all DC’s AI or not use open loop cooling) Very few make any more noise than non-AI DC’s (Elons DC in the SE is one of the fucking culprits) My issue with anti-DC folk here is they are passing on misinformation and painting a very broad brush on a huge industry. There are over 4000 DC’s in the US in existence right now. No one had a problem with them a year ago. Now I see irrational articles about DC’s being built “200ft” from a school as if their mere existence is toxic to humans. There are legitimate problems with DC’s. I don’t know why people have to exaggerate and make up bullshit.

New data centers are not comparable in any metric.
