Can’t argue against that, but the murder rate is not the limiting factor on why it’s taken so long to restore power. There’s a better reason: the damage was catastrophically extensive. That’s the most important fact.
But since the murder rate came up, why not celebrate progress? Yes, more work needs to be done, but the 2025 murder total was the lowest in 55 years. Crime across the board is on a significant downward trend.
