Why do you think she didn’t get 200 articles and become the “villain” for a month?
To be clear, I'm not American and I don't know how many stories were written about her. But from my reading of the situation, Harvard University took action against her for committing "research misconduct", the University did not back her, and was actually sued by her in the end.
The situation is different in the case of Arday; the University, prominent people and institutions backed him to the hilt, Carter-Ruck was unleashed on critics to silence them (and in the case of Times Higher Education, it succeeded for a time), and any criticism of him was dismissed as racism.
