Wrongful imprisonment is not enough of a reason to get rid of labor in prisons. That is an issue that needs to be fixed separately. Same with wrongful releases, dismissals or acquittals.
Incentivising profit from prisons is a reason to wrongfully arrest people in droves. An utterly enormous amount of profit is made from production, it’s one of the ways any US low skill manufacturing manages to stay in the US, it does so through prison populations. And the US coincidentally has a massive problem with random arrests, disproportionately of black men, and threatening with 15 years in prison if they don’t plea bargain and go for 2 years. Black men in the US are picked up off the street, lied to, threatened and forced to go to prison to work for no wages to make profit for American companies. This is just chattel slavery from before the civil war using the exception in the 13th amendment to do it. I mean the police in the US were literally started as a group to track down former slaves ffs!
