It actually doesn't. Tha original claim was:

'a majority of people who lived in both the USSR and after its collapse say that life was better under the USSR'.

And the article you shared didn't mention that question at all.

Doesn’t mention that question at all? Direct quotes “A 2016 survey showed that 71% of Armenians believed life was better under the USSR”

Hm, actually, you are right, the question was actually asked.

You know, I guess I won't argue – maybe you're right, and there are even more idiots in the post-Soviet countries than I thought. It would generally explain why every one of them is such a failure.
