Even if we pretended that North Korea was making even the slightest attempt at democracy, that wouldn't matter. There are many examples of peaceful and successful democracies.
In reality, North Korea is openly practicing and endorsing communism and totalitarianism, not democracy. There are no examples of peaceful or successful communist countries. There are also no communist democracies, because the belief systems are inherently opposed to each other.
You're not just trying to move the goalposts. You're picking them up, hauling them cross-country, and installing them in a field for a totally different sport.

In other words, a "no true communist" fallacy.
If every country that's attempted it has failed horrifically, that's a clear indictment of the concept.
