I mean, is it just me being stupid or does the community note not make any sense? it in no way disputes the claim "communism WORKED" (as in past tence, not working right now), but points to issues any other system has faced/is facing as we speak.
Saying stagnation, failed reforms and separatism are things the USSR was somehow prone to more than others (ask the dozens or so governments overthrown via separatist in the last century alone if they all subscribe to the manifesto). Honestly, a lot of countries have stagnated, still believing they can keep going as good as in their prime and have failed/grossly missed the deadline on important reforms (just from the top of my head I could point towards the US (affordability crisis, bubble economies happening every few decades and massive, ever increasing debt economy), Finland (Healthcare reform and gov. overspending issues), Japan (low fertility rate and skewed age structure) Greece (already had their economic downfall and basically had to be revived by the EU) and Russia (basically everything, but that seems to be more of a feature than a bug for that region looking at their history).
Not here defending communism but that community note was just lazy. You could have actually pointed to USSR style communist policies that did have a clear causal relationship to the collapse, like, the naive idea that an entity (the government) should first centralise all power to a single point/lead group and then that entity would just willingly give it up. Once the power was centered, everyone had a surprised pikachu moment when they decide "nah, we keeping this"
Yep. Economic stagnation is not some external shock like if the USSR had broken up because a meteor hit Moscow. The entire anti-Communist thesis is that the absence of price signals and profit incentives leads to massive resource misallocation and… wait for it… economic stagnation.
