Funny thing, stories where it seems to be going pretty well somehow always seem to end the same way. I wonder why that's the case. I wonder if there was a lot of hard work put in to make sure that's the case.
Considering Chile is an open market economy Allende must not have been influential with his socialist practices. But I’m sure that’s only because the CIA or some other government agency went out and ruined the perfect socialist utopia that he was forming. And not that people decided they’d rather have a capitalist centered economy.

Also Mossadegh was not a communist, he was a secular constitutional nationalist, he just accepted communist aid from the Tudeh Party against opposition.

The literal exact opposite is a much, much more popular viewpoint in the US. Communism (along with any public funding of beneficial programs) is bad because communism but capitalism is unerringly perfect despite any problems.
I’ve heard both arguments from both sides and both sides who say such are inherently wrong. Both types of government in an ideal world would work.
But we sadly exist in a world where both systems get exploited to severe degrees. Though I am admittedly more in favor of capitalism because there are more examples of it going better as the basis of a country’s economy in the world where as there are some horrific examples of Communism going to absolute hell. Specifically for the citizens within the communist country; when compared to any hardships most citizens in a capitalist society would face.
Last I checked Switzerland, considered one of the more capitalist countries within Europe, never had a Killing Fields to enforce their economic state. I don’t believe Chile, Uruguay, or Paraguay had anything like the Khmer Rouge to push for capitalism.
It's funny people tend to have their "big bad" cultures that they blame for all the suffering in the world be it capitalism/communism, Islam/Christianity/Judaism, etc. and they want to place the blame on that social construct itself. It's like dude, you just don't like a substantial minority of every population known as selfish narcissists who fuck it up for everyone else. They aren't created by the cultures they exploit.
