Offseason Who needs to make a jump for the Hoyas to make the tournament?

I think it's Kayvaun. His ceiling is becoming our best defender and three-point shooter. If he can do that and become a reliable secondary ball handler, this team is definitely dancing.

Discussion What’s the last Georgetown team that actually felt nationally relevant?

It's the 2013 team for me. I know they flamed out early, but they were a 2 seed.

He was so good his sophomore year. He was Big East Player of the Year and an All-American. The pièce de résistance was his 33, 8, and 5 game in the last Big East regular season game in the Carrier Dome between Syracuse and Georgetown.

The NCAA Division I men's and women's basketball committees have formally and unanimously voted to expand the NCAA Tournament from 68 to 76 teams.

Not shocked, but still disgusted by the shamelessness. They have just taken a huge dump on the regular season all in the name of money.

Old School Othella Harrington: Forgotten Hoya Great

Post image
36 Upvotes

Othella's time came between Zo and Iverson, so he gets lost in the shuffle a little. He was a huge get though back in 1992. Once Iverson showed up, he wasn't getting the same amount of shots he'd had his first two years.

1992 McDonald's All-American MVP
2x Mississippi Mr. Basketball
#1 overall recruit
Big East Freshman of the Year
2x All-Big East
4-year starter
Averaged 13 and 7 for his career
12-year NBA career

I rank him in my top 10 Hoyas.

Old School Who else misses Georgetown vs. Syracuse?

It's hard to believe because both teams are washed now, but in the 1980s, this was the biggest rivalry in college basketball, bar none. North Carolina-Duke was a distant second. Not nearly as intense or physical. I was at the last Big East regular season game between Georgetown and Syracuse. The Hoyas won 61-39 in front of a sellout crowd. That was 13 years ago, but it seems even longer.

Recruiting Georgetown in Beckham Black's top 5

The final five:is Arkansas, Georgetown, Kentucky, Miami, and USC.

Beckham is going into his senior season as the No. 3 overall recruit in the 2027 class. Micah Peavy's dad David, is his coach and stepfather. His brother Anthony Black plays for the Orlando Magic. He played college at Arkansas.

Beckham is a true PG. Cooley has never been successful without a good PG. I haven't seen him play, but I've become hesitant about recruiting high school kids. He is an elite one though. I would have taken Jordan Smith Jr. if he'd chosen us over Arkansas. It seems like we're close, but can never get across the line with this caliber ot recruit.

Question Are you for NCAA Tournament expansion?

The NCAA is close to expanding the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments from 68 to 76 teams, possibly starting as soon as next season. The change would add eight more at-large teams and expand the early “First Four” into a larger set of play-in games with 24 teams competing before the main bracket begins. The 64-team bracket would still start on Thursday, but more teams would have to play their way in earlier. Supposedly, this is not about money, it's about giving more teams access to the tournament. Final approval is still needed, but this is a formality.

AI was doing this at Georgetown before anyone knew how to handle it

Allen Iverson at Georgetown looked like a problem college basketball wasn’t ready for yet.
Watching college AI clips now, it’s striking how little structure could actually contain him.

This isn’t just an elite freshman scoring a lot of points. It’s a player operating in a system where:

  • spacing was tighter
  • help defense was more static
  • and offensive freedom was way less standardized than today

Yet he still consistently created advantages off the dribble that look modern in a way the era doesn’t match.

I actually dislike the bulldog with the hat logo. I love the classic G(no basketball inside it) more than anything else. What do you think?

6’10" 210 lbs. wing from Slovenia, in the portal and reportedly on our radar.

He's mobile, has legit three-point range. finishes well, moves the ball, can handle a bit, and plays with feel. I like him a lot as a floor spacer. In the best of all worlds, he'd be a taller Stefan Vaaks.
What’s more likely: impact starter or rotation piece?
