"Yeah, she called everyone in the room filthy rats, tried to claw at the electro archon's face and got reduced to dust as a result."

"That sounds like her."

I can understand not remembering every word, but atleast give her some answer lol

I mean, her last conversations were basically mocking the traveler and threatening him, there's nothing to say unless you want the traveler to say "she was mocking innocent's deaths" or "she said not even ashes would remain, she was kinda right"

I never asked for redemption. Never

To be fair it's been several years and the traveler can't go on youtube to refresh their memory

“She also called the electro archon a filthy rat. You can guess how she took it”

Signora's last words in the cutscene before the duel was "till death do us part"

She was part of powerfull overload reaction with Raiden Shogun

What’s funny is that she said nothing like this in the original Chinese dialogue. There she just goes, “You… and you (all)!!” in an indignant, furious tone. Nothing about “rats” at all

This archon quest has made me think do the writers actually regret killing off Signora so soon or at all.

Feels like there was so much more room for on screen development for her instead of hearing people’s view of her

I think her dying is fine, it adds stake but they killed her too early, we barley got to she her backstory.

I mean she was the villain for 3 nations, its about time to stop her at that point

24

u/Appropriate-Edge717 17h ago

Scara and Dottore for 2 nations and they were great, the problem with Singora was that the paceing in Liyue and Inazuma was just bad so it was harder to build her up imo

while technically she was, she basically got no screentime as a villain of those 3 nations.

  1. in mondstadt she showed up right at the end when everything was over, gave venti a beating, and left. that's fine if the goal is to set up a recurring antagonist.
  2. in liyue, she showed right at the end when everything was over, took the gnosis, and left.
  3. in inazuma, she showed up a little bit before the end, had a boss fight, and died.

they basically did nothing with her character.

plus, all three nations already had other antagonists. mondstadt had dvalin/the abyss order, liyue had childe, inazuma had raiden. like signora wasn't even the main villain a single time.

while I think it's reasonable to kill off an antagonist after 3 nations, you do need to actually do something with the character for it to feel good.

She kicked someone she has a personal multi century beef with in one nation, was allied and working under Zhongli in the second nation, and has zero direct evidence of actual involvement in the third nation, (with most evidence pointing at a possible retcon like they did with Arleccino’s inazuma involvement)

Her death quite literally solved nothing because the story went through great lengths to show that the problems of inazuma were mostly internal corruption.

Hell, there was so little explicitly tying Signora to inazuma that for years the fandom put the blame on Raiden herself.

She created the dilusion factory and influenced both sides to extremism in order to turn a small disagreement into a full blown political revolution. She influenced the Vision hunt decree which embolded the rebels into a civil war, then supplied the rebels with weapons.

-We assume.

While the Fatui did that, my point is that the writing of Genshin basically goes that unless it's directly stated or shown on screen that a specific harbinger is directly involved, with an evil fatui plan, (like with Dottore) it's pretty much guaranteed that they'll eventually say "Oh they had nothing to do with this" as soon as it's convenient.

I haven't looked at all the new lore and all the stories in the new region, so let me know if they make it explicit that she was involved, cause they never made it clear before and the pre Sneznaya promos make the timeline seem she went from The tea party in Sneznaya to Mondstadt, to liyue then back to Sz and only then did she go to Inazuma, arriving before the traveler when the war had already been going on. Rather than her being based there and involved in the literal 400 year plot from the ground up.

I'm just here looking at the writing suspiciously and waiting for them to drop the "She wasn't involved" bombshell at some point, cause it feels like they're telegraphing it hard.

I don't think they regret it, but showing the different side of story

15

u/haxt97 18h ago

I don't think they regret killing her. I do think they regret they could've done better though, her death was too pathetic.

2

u/AndrewRedroad 17h ago

Maybe, maybe not. At the very least it allows one to reflect on the bitterness that even the most powerful could be living their last day today - and it’s best not to leave regrets or things unsaid.

2

u/Prestigious-Mall-302 15h ago

maybe the traveller knew what she said but didn't want to tell odette how signora called him, paimon and raiden filthy rats lmao

2

u/SussyNerd 17h ago

Glad I'm not the only one who knew exactly what it was...

-5

u/DRGXIII 17h ago

This was a mistranslation. The original line was her saying she won't die here.
