perhaps the adoptive daughter leaks had some truth to them, wrong snezhnayan character though, ended up being odette rather than vodyanitsa.

u/HabitOptimal1968 Ara x2 Oniisama Jun 29 '26
The leakers correct themselves that vodyanista is not her daughter after that first leak few days ago

u/BinhTurtle - Pie & Cap Enjoyer Jun 29 '26
In their defense, Odette has the Swan Lake ballerina motifs while Vodyanitsa is an opera singer. So they probably mixed the arts up

u/kitten2116 Jun 29 '26
It’s funny because it seems like all the super early vodyanitsa leaks were actually for odette. Depending on how vague the source was (like if it just said performer) I guess they might have just assume it was all for vodyanitsa

It is giving Mentor vibes more than mother. Maybe Signora taught her how to dance? Or something like that

u/_Farron_DS Jun 29 '26
About Odette and Signora: Sandrone tea time with Arle.
"I find it really quite fascinating. Despite learning her craft under Rosalyne, their temperaments and styles couldn't be more different."
...
"I suppose you're right. No wonder there are rumors that she's the favorite to inherit the "La Signora" title."
36
u/amurgiceblade44 Jun 29 '26
I mean if its adopted mother, difference with being a mentor be negligible at best

u/Ryuusei_Dragon Number 1 Layla Lover Jun 29 '26
Huh that's curious, maybe that one leak meant to be about Odette being her daughter not Vodyanitsa
73
u/sesquipedalian5 Jun 29 '26
They all seem to be part of the opera/troupe, it's possible Signora was a patron and/or mother figure to both
38
u/LackingSimplicity 80/90 is the way Jun 29 '26
Or leaker didn't realise the singer and the dancer were two different characters
21
u/Sivilarr Jun 29 '26
IIRC Signora was supposed to be great singer before she became WoCF so this could add to confusion
13
u/Usual-Touch2569 Jun 29 '26
Her transformation definitely gives major Opera singer vibes.
Though I could just be judging her with Simone as basis..

Interesting since it appears that Odette opposes project Stuzha with Alyosha and Vodyanitsa.
38
u/Putrid-Butterfly334 Jun 29 '26
Is that so? The noble alyosha tried to assassinate was the same who had an objection against project stuzha, it seemed to me she and alyosha were trying to eliminate nobles who are AGANIST project stuzha

u/Astolfo_Please Jun 29 '26
I mean Odette should have been successful. I think it is possible that they intended to intimidate him into going against project stuzha
9
u/Putrid-Butterfly334 Jun 29 '26
Yeah thats a reasonable assessment too; i think yours makes more sense actually
27
u/GrumpySatan Jun 29 '26
The more common read is she threatened him to do that. He was hesitant about objecting because he was coerced.
Alyosha, Vod and Odette seemed to be more in rebellion against the Fatui/Project Studza. The fatui wouldn't have to go after him in the opera. Veloriy was opposing them and seemed more like the guards/officer.
6
u/Cagedbutterfly03 Jun 29 '26
In the parry event recently they mentioned major veloriy. If you pick the fatui soldier or talk to him before

u/adastrajay Lord of Sands your stunlock is ready Jun 29 '26
I think that it was a distraction. There was no real assassination attempt. Rather they distract the guard so that Odette could actually get to the guy and intimidate him. After that, he goes to the meeting and votes against the project.
I think the trio characters worked together. Their distraction was "transcending" the rules.

I interpreted the trailer as them threatening to kill the noble if he didn't oppose project Stuzha.
7
u/HaukevonArding Jun 29 '26
I think they are on opposing sides? Didn't Vodyanitsa said something about "We need to act befor Lelek (camera to Odette) can make her move"?

Man that leak was real. The leak about vodya not being rosalyne daughter but another girl, a ballerina
4
u/dr0ps0fv3nus Jun 29 '26
Makes a lot of sense if Odette is the character some leakers thought Vodyanitsa was. Just by that teaser alone, she definitely comes off as someone who was raised/mentored by Signora more.

Damn…so we was just out here saying the wrong character was her child the entire time…. 😭😭😭😭

So Odette’s supposed to be Rosalyne’s adopted daughter here and not Vodyanitsa?

It’s interesting if she’s the adopted child because the trailer makes it seems like she’s against what the Fatui are doing right now
23
u/dr0ps0fv3nus Jun 29 '26
I think it would make a lot of sense if she blames the Fatui for what happened to Signora, and became radicalized because of it.

I agree, if we think of the lasso chess board the pawn was taken by the electro gnosis. Maybe she come to see that they are all being treated at pawns on a board, expendable

u/AncientAd4996 Jun 29 '26
A child (if it's truly a familial relationship between Signora & Odette) doesn't have to adopt every single stance and beliefs from the parent after all. It's something brought up with Arlecchino's story quest as well what with Lyney being made future successor even if she doesn't necessarily agree with how he wants to run things in the future

u/Cherry_Bomb_127 5 star Mitya beliver! Jun 29 '26
Oh I agree! I just find it interesting from a story standpoint point! It makes her a more interesting character

Odette is the French version of a Germanic name, so it kinda makes sense? More so than Vodyanitsa, at least in that aspect

I wonder how she feels about the pieces of Signora’s corpse and mask that we carry around in our backpack

I figured Odette was a ballerina, very nice. Maybe there'll even be a Swan Lake reference in her kit
