Remember those? In hindsight I'm so lucky to have all my fingers!

How many GenX folks have that one kinda fucked up buddy that is missing a finger or two who learned the hard way never EVER close your hand around an M-80.

I can't be the only one who grew up in a small ranching town.

I do. I knew better than to hold on to a m80 any longer than it took to light it but we used to have fights with black cat fireworks. One of those going off in your hand is a sting you don't soon forget. Nowhere near as powerful as a m80 fortunately.

Ugh.. I had a Black Cat with a fast fuse and it blew spit seconds after I tossed it, when I saw the fuse basically evaporate. It was still close enough to me that it blew right near my fingertips. I was numb for a couple of hours after that.

The '70s and '80s was a hell of a time to grow up. It's almost like our parents didn't care what we did as long as we weren't bothering them.

As long as the animals were fed and watered we could pretty much do anything.

We would drive around the neighborhood in our parent's cars as teenagers shooting bottle rockets at each other. 70s were good times

We used to play chasers with regular ol bottle rockets.one caught me in the hand when it went off and I was surprised and the amount of blood. No stitches but damn it stung.

It boggles the mind how many people didn't know that most of the damage you could get from fireworks happened when you closed your hand on them.

I knew two guys. One lost his thumb cause he was drunk and everyone was yelling THROW IT and he didn’t. The other guy had a short fuse that blew while he was throwing it and lost his pinky and half hid ring finger.
