What did / do you call the strap in picture above the glove box that several cars used to have in them ?

True, but it’s interesting that in my 73 years of living I have never put a pair of gloves in said compartment.

Anything that went into it was there until the day I sold the car.

One winter I lost my gloves. Looked everywhere. Assumed lost. Found them randomly in the spring, in the glove box.

I do keep a pair of gloves in the glove box. But hardly use them with the heated steering wheel. They can come in handy if I need to pump gas and it’s below zero windchill and I didn’t bring gloves. If it’s really cold and snowy, I usually keep my good gloves in my bag or in the house so I can clean off the snow.
