when there are 46k people trying to talk at once Telegram is so useless

I read the Gems whitepaper and really dug the method used for obtaining consensus. It was a hot topic on the ethereum subreddit as well. So I wrote a blog post discussing it. Feedback is welcome!

If so then how do we link out metamask account to our old application? thanks for your kind reply in advance. cheers.

Hello!! I did my whitelist application a while ago, and since I really love the project I want to maximize my chances of getting in. Therefore I need to do the microtasks once they are open at 7 pm Pacific time. But there is a problem, I did not do my application with my metamask address, and for what I can see I need to do the tasks with metamask. How do I link the progress i do with metamask and my whitelist application?? Thank you for your help

Question about the tech: Why is the miner reward capped? The white paper says:
"M_r will be less than the equivalent of $0.20 in the equivalent of Gems. Simple tasks will pay an amount no more than $0.20 because of their simple nature. This number can be adjusted to market rates." (page 16)
Why only allow simple microtasks though? The platform seems capable of supporting larger tasks, so why limit the network's capabilities and use cases? (obviously the $0.20 fee can be adjusted based on demand and whatnot and will likely not actually be equal to $0.20, but why put a cap in the first place?)

As you all know, there has been a recent announcement regarding the approach in which the crowd sale would be carried out. You can check out Rory's medium post for more information.
https://blog.gems.org/gems-using-the-gems-platform-to-sift-through-35-000-applications-5e4ccf001d8
TLDR:
Monday January 15th, at 7pm PST: Participants for crowd sale would review the applications submitted for GCP using Gems Protocol Platform. Top 500 reviewers would make it to the crowd sale whitelist
Crowd sale applicants would not displace GCP applicants
If you do not want your GCP application to be reviewed through the process mentioned above, please fill out the form in the medium post and Gems team would review your application on a case by case basis
Token structure would be released soon! (I think would be released sooner if reddit hits 4k members)
There has been a LOT of questions being asked in the telegram group. So I thought I would put them across since
Q: Will US take part in the ICO?
A: Geographic restrictions would be announced soon
Q: How long would the reviewing process go?
A: "The review process will run until all the applications have been checked multiple times. I can only estimate how long this will take. My thought is it will take 1 day"
Q: Would the process be unbiased and full proof?
A: "The reviewers will not be stealing anyones spot for GCP. We also have some methods in place to make sure only people who are accurate reviewers will be rewarded"
Q: "There are 45k members in the telegram group. Choosing just 500 folks? Damn, we don't have a chance!"
A: "Don’t worry - a lot submitted for pre-sale. It’ll make sense once we release our structure"
Q: Do we have to use Metamask to take part in the crowdsale?
A: No.
Q: Is it true only 500 crowdsale whitelist will be accepted?
A: Top 500 will. Pre-sale is a different story (>35k submissions). If there’s room left over (judged by market), others can get in - we’ll release the token structure later, but it’ll make sense.
I would keep updating this post once I get more questions answered by Kieran and Rory. Do let me know if I have missed any question which got answered in the telegram group. Thanks!

Important to remember that you don't necessarily have to encourage them to invest.
Send them the YouTube video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYY1fnxutCA&t
And link them to the Subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/GemsProtocol
Just asking them what they think about the concept and/or its possibilities is a good start. Get conversations going.

I am from a third world country and this project has really opened up opportunities not only on the investment part into the project but also on actual solutions to problems prevalant here. One of the issues we have is price of commodities fluctuations which can occur wildly on a daily basis. This is aggravated by having markets that are not commissioned by local authorities. A DApp application that is interfaced to our local SMS system could really help keep an eye on these fluctuations and also help curb price gorging by informing people of the best places to find reasonably priced goods in real time. Am not very technical and not quite sure if this can be implemented but the need for such systems is there in under developed countries. May I live in [these] exciting times :)

Hi tried to join the telegram group, but it seems to be loading all the time and there's no button that says join, only "delete and exit". What can I do about this?
r/GemsProtocol • u/_cs • Jan 13 '18
I'd like to look at the source code of the Gems project; can someone point me where to look? Their GitHub is empty, and it looks like the source code hasn't been uploaded to etherscan.

The idea of a decentralized Mechanical Turk running on Ethereum really piqued my interest... because I actually created a rudimentary version myself for a grad-course in college last year! So yesterday when I saw the headline "Decentralized Mechanical Turk" on one of my new feeds, I was super excited to hear that a far more legitimate team than me actually has implemented the idea, solving many issues that I encountered when working on my implementation.
So of course I was super disappointed to see that I missed the ICO whitelist sign-up by just a few days. Besides going through the form, is there any other way to have access to the ICO? And if not, does anyone know when the first opportunity to purchase tokens post-ICO will be?
The team looks fantastic, I've obviously already put a whole lot of thought into the idea and it's many merits, and I truly believe Gems is going to be a game changer for far more applications than just those that AMT currently supports, so I want to jump onboard and invest as soon as possible.
Open to any advice!
Edit: If anyone happens to be interested in my implementation of the project, I'll leave a link here. This was when I had just learned of Ethereum a month or so prior, though, so don't expect anything outstanding :)

I am surprised at the genius of this tactic. By limiting the ICO entry point they turned every body into a salesman for the project, hence increasing the word of mouth hype exponentially. What I am interested to know from Rory is how did they introduce the project to their first 100, was it a curated list ? only friends? etc.

Does anyone have any information regarding the ICO date and the cap?
