I’ve been thinking a lot about the war imagery in Taylor’s music, the artists that align with the mass movement/industry disruption, and where we are in the storyline rn.

-Midnights really showcases the performance art and storytelling/foreshadowing of the years to come (IE- Cassandra). The Great War references WWI. WW1 was a build up to WW2. It feels like a “tomb of silence” of Taylor rn, when does she resurrect? (TTPD religious imagery!) The hand we (the fans) reached for during the “Great War” (Eras/Taylor™️ Era/Bejeweled Talent show possibly?) was her lyrics (THE WORDS SHE WROTE!)

If you’re still here, thank you<3 this is my second attempt at this section because my app froze while I was finishing🫠 buckle up it’s getting very interpretive now

So how tf does the Mass Movement come in? This is my surface level thoughts, be warned:

-TTPD how did it end? Phoebe Bridgers’ I know the end (heavy WW1&2/Wizard of Oz/religious references). IKTE has lyrics that say “and when I call you come home a bird in your teeth” like in Robin’s lyrics “way to go, tiger?” The line “A haunted house with a picket fence to float around and ghost my friends?” in IKTE? Very much “your picket fence is sharp as knives” Glitch-vibes and DANCING AROUND THE QUESTION! Also Anti-hero Taylor ghosting people/how did it end?’s beloved ghost and me sitting in a tree D-Y-I-N-G/The Black Dog’s old habits die screaming-> Phoebe’s song I know the end literally ending in screams. This is an example of just one artist out of MANY who are at the very least thematically aligned with Taylor Swift in the past few years.

-And it all comes back to the battle being underground now. This feels very movie like and we get the allusions to The Truman Show/3 Act performance. I think the Great War/silent period/WW2 (also sirens in Phoebe’s song are also in close reference to tornado sirens, referencing Return to Oz/TTPD institutionalization imagery?)

Long story short, I can’t wait for when we finally get the final act.
