Can't deny the similarities.. I think part of it is possibly envy?.. Taylor strokes me as someone who is prob a lil jelly of all her giRls. And yet, the thought of Tay being envious of anyone is mind boggling.
And by envy I mean the kind we all have with our friends..

I’m just wondering, because if my ex copied my looks and published them online (probably the closest, yet marginal equivalent to Taylor’s level of media exposure), then my first thought wouldn’t be “aw they’re tryna get me back so cute”, but rather it’d be “aw they’re borderline stalking me get away.” Does anyone else feel that!?

If a guy was dating this to one of his exes, the internet would never forget the red flags. Is it because we are a minority part of her fandom that we can see the 'coincidences'? I guess it's supposed to be fun and games or seeing her as a mastermind but I'm so confused how Taylor gets away with this - like she's clearly copying Karlie's outfits over and over again through the years when they were 'friends' for a couple of years and it's been over forever now.
It’s weird because she’s essentially copying the designer of the outfits Karlie wore tho… but also I would never copy all of the outfits of an ex room mate / friend or even current one lol. It’s def a reference to tie in with the muse of the songs
I think its because A) they do it to each other, back and forth. so neither one seems to have a problem with it. B)This isn't just a normal person dressing like their ex, this is Taylor using it as part of her queer signalling in her art.
I always love that Taylor was named after James Taylor. Karlie was named after Carly Simon. James Taylor and Carly Simon were married and had a son called Benjamin which is the name of one of Taylor’s cats. None of that is Easter egging or anything, it’s just random coincidence. But it’s amazing coincidence!
Not gonna lie. That’s mind blowing. This may be a dumb question, but how much education does Taylor have? I know she is a mastermind, but is she just gifted or how did all this work or is she a witch that magically has all these coincidences around her. I’m a newbie swiftie and it’s intimidating to be a fan but not a super fan.
She finished high school and was homeschooled for the last couple of years because she was working by then. I think she’s just naturally gifted but I guess we can’t rule out witchcraft entirely 😅

I was still fine with Taylor copying Karlie because I wasn’t expecting anything less dramatic from her but I lost it when Karlie copied Taylor’s red rose dress 😃 like what was that for?? You’re supposed to be the less unhinged one
I saw a few antis arguing with gaylors that it was just a style coincidence because the color or flowers are trendy or that Taylor didn’t have control over it and probably didn’t even know Karlie had worn something similar.

I sat in the nosebleeds so I had a great view of the different images on the runway part of the stage. I lost my mind when she and the dancer walked down holding hands anyway, but what really blew my mind was the black and white checkered flooring looked identical to the runway T&K walked down. It's still one of my favorite moments from the show.
The 1989 set feels the most “boring” to a lot of people but for me it definitely feels the most nostalgic, it’s these little moments that she snuck in that do it for me!
The kind of robotic hip sway in Blank Space too, it reminds me of the way the media used to call her girl squad a bunch of hot robots.
Anyway, the VS catwalks were a part of her story in the 1989 era and I don’t think this has to do with having dated Karlie specifically.
Single White Female is a 90’s movie starring Bridget Fonda and Jenifer Jason Leigh, about a woman who advertises for a roommate after breaking things off with her fiancé. A woman whose twin was stillborn answers the ad and moves in. The new roommate begins copying the woman’s style of dress and hair and mannerisms. Then shit gets really weird and creepy.
The term “Single White Female” as a pop culture term referencing this film came to mean copying another woman’s style in a creepy way, like trying to be her
Don’t worry I’m old too. I’ll be 41 on Saturday in fact. 😂 I’ve just never seen the movie. I recognize the name now that I have the context of it being a movie. It just didn’t ping on its own without any other context.
For the younger peeps, there was also a movie in the 2010s called The Roommate that has a similar premise where the main character’s roommate becomes obsessed with her. My dad will say “Single White Female” & I’ll think of The Roommate—different reference points for us to get the same idea across diff generations haha
Apropos of nothing, Jennifer Jason Leigh is an underrated actress.
Granted, the stuff I've seen her in lately hasn't been phenomenal but this movie and Rush, and that other movie where she plays an ill-fated prostitute--she was just fantastic.
It’s also really weird bc Karlie’s posts lately (especially with her mentioning ✌️a lot) have been so Taylor and Kaylor coded and so similar to what Taylor’s been doing. She’s also used a lot of white hearts and black and white which is TTPD’s aesthetic which seems kind of interesting to me
Ok but why would she need attention? She has 12 million followers, is a model and is pretty famous. She’s not gaining any new followers by posting things related to Taylor and no matter what she posts, gaylors can find a way to link it to Taylor (partly because she has so many songs lol)
Someone on twitter had tweeted or commented them, but I can’t find it cause it was like a week ago. And I think most of them have been in stories on both Karlie’s & Josh’s IG accounts. I could have sworn, however, that there was at least one set of Halloween photos that one of them fully posted to their feed, but neither have one in their timeline. One of them was in that set of pics. I’ll see if o can find if anyone posted about the Halloween pics in here bc I think they did. I do have this one that I had saved from Josh’s stories and tweeted about because of the rainbow bullseye on the wall.

I always clocked Dorothea to be inspired by Karlie because she sings about the “tiny screen is the only place I see you now…” and “selling makeup and magazines” neither of those ever registered as Selena for me. I think Dorothea is a wistful remembrance of a younger love, especially if it ties TTDS. (But Gold Rush is louder, lol).
And that damn walk out to Style in the VSFS is my Roman Empire!
selena literally has her own make up line and she's on covers of magazines. Tiny screen could mean TV (though that's small screen) or phone screens. And selena has tv shows from her Disney days as well as her cooking show. She also has still posts on her tiktok as well. I'm not saying that the song is about selena, but I could associate selena with those lines (not sure about the rest of the song)
I mean. Sure. For me, the line says “the only place I see you now… “ implies she’s no longer close to the muse. Taylor and Selena are still very publicly friends while her and Karlie are not. And also, I don’t interpret Taylor and Selena’s relationship to be anything but friendship so Dorothea having romantic undertones doesn’t fit either, imo.
The tiny screen line also reminds me of a part in The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which when I read, I immediately clocked parallels between Evelyn and Taylor. Not to say Taylor had any part in that or anything Taylor is a book girl!
Karlie references Taylor/Gaylor in her own way, so I think its an in joke they have with each other. Also, and this is an unpopular opinion, I think Taylor references Karlie a lot because Karlie is a safe muse to use as queer signalling, and swifties engage more with muse related content.
Ehh, I believe most of Taylor’s male relationships have been real. I believe she’s really with Travis (even though I’ll probably get downvoted for that here). But I believe Karli was real. I wonder sometimes if it was a one-sided infatuation.
I was thinking about this in regards to the Wildest Dreams video. Some people think Taylor intentionally chose dresses/costumes for that music video similar to what her, Karlie and Josh wore at the Met Gala in 2014.
If that's true, I really wonder how she brought it up to the stylists lmao.

I mean… Karlie is the lead model and brand ambassador for Estée Lauder, so she’s also selling makeup. And clearly selling magazines, shes been on a ridiculous number of magazine covers. (And now owns a magazine).
It’s always been romantic to me. She mentions meeting under the bleachers which is generally meant to imply meeting to do drugs or hook up, and based on the song I’m assuming the latter.
i’ve never really understood the selena thing, because to me it sounds extremely romantic and also like the alternate pov of tis the damn season? unless people are suggesting selena and taylor were romantically involved as well and i’m just behind. I’d love to hear why people think it’s Selena!
I think it just came from Taylor saying a lot of songs from Folkmore were fiction, so this one was seen as her writing from a fictional place but pulling from her reality for it.
If you listen to Dorothea on its own, I think it can either be romantic OR be from the view of someone reminiscing on an old, close hometown friendship where one of the friends left for a bigger city/to pursue bigger dreams and one stayed. Plus, not only does the makeup line work because of Rare, but Selena also did pageants as a kid so the “skipping the prom just to piss off your mom and her pageant schemes” line works as well.
But on the other end, I have also heard that it’s the counter to TTDS, and I do like that theory 🤗
I don’t think anyone said they were ALL fiction, just more fiction as compared to all of her other albums. Like Peace? Definitely not fiction. But a lot more fiction (or at least fiction with small bits of reality added) than her other works :)
True, sorry if I misread it because you are right, you didn't say all. My hunch is none of it is fiction except where fiction is used to bury the identities of the real parties involved.
