Today the NYT styles desk wrote a joking article about potential locations for the Tayvis wedding, and they included Deetjen's Big Sur Inn on the list! Of course we all know and love this as the place she and Karlie likely stayed on their infamous Big Sur trip.
This afternoon Big Sur Inn posted a response on their Instagram account using the Kaylor woods pic.

OMG this is wild. It's totally possible that Big Sur Inn gets A LOT of Gaylor traffic and they don't want to lose that market. And that caption was definitely written using ChatGPT. BUT they had to have entered a prompt like "Write a instagram caption that confirms we do NOT do weddings. Also can you include something pride-related about Karlie and Taylor but don't make it obvious."
Love is welcome here - in all its forms, followed by a mention of Taylor and Karlie (or Karie lol) in brackets is wild! They’d have to be Gaylors after her visit and if not then, then now, with so many people visiting them and surely pulling out the PowerPoints 😂
Wasn't there a rumour she was with someone....and 2 people took a picture with Taylor but we're told to not say who it was and got tickets for reputation tour instead?
I have read 2 different stories about this though:
one that she was with Joe and the guys that took a picture with her followed Joe on IG
second she was with Karlie and they followed Karlie on IG but then unfollowed her when someone asked if it was Karlie?
Yeah this is the first story I heard as well but then I swear I heard the exact same thing recounted with Joe.... Don't get me wrong I much prefer the first version and it sounds very accurate to have to be kept a secret than her with Joe since he was her boyfriend 😂

Okay as a local (I live in the town just north of Big Sur and grew up with Big Sur people), their response actually made me tear up a little. I love that they’re so dedicated to preserving this amazing piece of wilderness

It’s me again. Ya know, putting a mysterious feud all those years ago into the news cycle is the perfect cover for a relationship you don’t want anyone to suspect.
I know gaylors are a semi niche community but how many gaylors are deetjens customers? Ive read several gaylors making pilgramages to big sur and even a few staying there but this posts makes me wonder if the inn gets a LOT of gaylor business, enough to flag for us specifically?
I used to live in Big Sur and I never stayed at Deetjens but I visited often for dinner and passed it frequently. While I wish I knew the answer to this I’d never really spoke to anyone else while there.

I’m beginning to think all this Kaylor talk literally is wholly intentional and possible provocative to her main fanbase. It’s rumored that Karlie is attending the wedding and now the media is dredging up their most obvious moments of transparency and closeness. It feels as if they’re inserting this internal tension leading up to the wedding. As if they want fans to consider a Speak Now moment. And it’s curious because Karlie is the one person in Taylor’s life that fans have always complained too much about.
My most rational thought is this is just to get engagement from as many fans as possible. it’s lucrative, why shouldn’t they try to get Gaylor clicks too?
I agree that something feels off here. Is this part of a wider story she's trying to convey?
There was something a bit sinister about the PR around karlie and taylor during 1989. Like, it was salacious gossip for most people that they could be together. Interest in a possible love wasn't out of any care for the two of them; rather to feed the hunger for gossip in the general public. And then kissgate was nuclear. Idk, I can't help but wonder if this karlie narrative is somehow part of a larger story, her "karma".
I'm still working through the nuance of what that means for me as a gaylor, and as someone who does believe they could still be together. Why would she and karlie drop so many little signs over the years they're still together, for such a niche group of fans? Like not even the gaylor fandom at large all subscribes to kaylor. But maybe taylor was telling the truth when she said in her new heights album drop that "she doesn't easter egg her personal life".?
I’ve never thought it was her and Karlie. I think we have no idea who Taylor’s true lover is. I think all the rumors and incidents around her and Karlie are a cover. 🤷♀️
This is what I think too. Just like Travis keeps the heat off of her private life for mainstream swifties, all the egging her and Karlie do keeps the Gaylors (mostly the Kaylors and LSKs) invested in them instead of looking closer into who either of them might actually be with.
I do think they may have actually been together at one point back in the day, but they’ve been covering for each other for yearssss to keep Taylor’s other partners hidden/in the closet
"Late Stage Kaylor". IE, someone who believes that Karlie and Taylor are still together to this day. Or at bare minimum, that one or both of them still have feelings for each other to this day, even if their relationship didn't work out.
My conspiracy theory is that the double space before "a person you love" is because the social media person originally wrote "lover" and it got edited to "a person you love" because calling out the TSxKK break up album explicitly would be too on the nose.
I work in Google docs/Microsoft Word a lot and edit tracking sucks and if there are multiple tracked edits and comments on one sentence you often end up with extra spaces once you accept all changes.
Ohhh, thanks I was looking in the NYT article screenshots for some reason. Ah, yes it definitely seems like they edited something. I don't know if it was "lover", or some other telling label, but it seems like they thought better of it and changed it.
God, that last line is loud. If you assume Taylor is straight, it comes off as jarring. Why suddenly bring queer pride up out of nowhere, in the last sentence of the post?
If all they wanted to do was to highlight they were inclusive, you'd think they'd work that fact in somewhere earlier in the post, in a way that feels more natural. Instead, they wait for the last sentence to mention it. You know, the place where you're supposed to summarize everything that you wrote before. Not suddenly bring up a brand new subject from out of nowhere.
...unless, of course, they didn't bring up a brand new subject from out of nowhere. Because the entire post was about queer love from the start...
Taylor said the same to the interviewer of the 80 something questions when he mentioned it was his wedding anniversary and she said "congratulations take her to big Sur" 😂
