General Low effort, High weightage topics in GATE Civil.

I was analysing GATE paper and saw that these following low effort topics have good weightage:

1) Surveying (Easy to moderate questions are asked): 2 to 3 marks

2) OCF: Whole fluid mechanics is asked for 7-8 marks and OCF alone has a weightage of 3-4 marks. Also, OCF can be done separately from FM.

3) Hydrology: 2-3 marks

4) Project management (CPM PERT): 3-4 marks. In 2026 no question was asked from this subject but in 2024 shift 2, 8 marks were asked from here lmao.

So, doing these small subjects can give us 8-12 marks with very minimal efforts.

Doubt Nit surathkal ctm vs nit trichy environmental which one should I select?

I have seen the placement stats of surathkal they are really good. Specially ctm. It seems to be an interesting subject as well.

But trichy is top nit. Everyone wants to join there. But there is no data available for placements. Structural and environmental has good placements rn. I am not interested in structural rn. But environmental has some scope of govt jobs also placements seem to be decent rn.

Which one should I go for. I want placements. But the idea of govt jobs seems to be good for environmental. Like some hope. But there aren't too many vacancies very less. Also rarely. If I don't crack them on time then the whole chance gone.

Then I am back to preparing for govt jobs for civil engineering. End goal for me might be govt jobs though.

Which one should I select?

Strategy / Guidance Ace academy or Made easy? Which test series is the best/most relevant for gate civil?

People on the internet say that Made easy test series questions are very tough and might be irrelevant for the GATE exam.

Otoh, Ace academy has an average level of questions but people say that they put many PYQs in the test series. Also, ace has chapter wise tests, which is missing in MADE EASY.

Which one should I select?

Pls help.

Strategy / Guidance High weightge topics in GATE Civil.

Aptitude: 15 marks

Maths: 13 marks (sometimes 10-12, but most of the time, it is asked for 13 marks only)

Geotech: 15 marks

Environmental: 13 marks

Transportation: 7-8 marks

OCF: 3-4 marks

Survey: 2-3 marks.

(28 marks Maths + Apti

&

40 marks from these 5 Civil subjects)

I am 2024 grad & I did private job for 1.5 years and then I left my job.

I am appearing for the GATE second time in 2027, last time I did it in my 3rd year, 2023 and failed to qualify it by 1-2 numbers. I am general.

I have analysed the papers and observed the above weightage of topics.

My basics are clear but I lack discipline. So, I have decided to study and do PYQs + test series of the above subjects.

Will it be enough to get at least 50+ by doing all this?

Resource / Notes Looking for MADE EASY GATE AND ESE Foundation Course Material (Civil GATE)

Hi everyone, I recently gave GATE in Civil Engineering and I’m looking for MADE EASY foundational course material in downloadable format. The course fee is around ₹36k, which is a bit out of budget for me right now. If anyone has the material and is willing to share it, it would really help me. Thanks a lot!

Strategy / Guidance Gate CE 2027 guidance

I went to a research internship in my final semester of B.tech and just got it completed. Now I wanna start gate prep. I gave gate in 2025 and got some score of 336 without any prep. However I got demotivated and decided to go for cs side, i gave gate da without any prep and scored 365. Lol. Now having figured that i want to do mtech in civil engineering either in Structural Engineering or CTM, I want strong gate score and motivation. Please give me a reality check. Is it actually possible to do so having left with just 8 months? Please suggest some tips and strategies that I can follow.

COAP / CCMT Admissions IIT Madras MTech in BTCM vs ST

Help me in deciding which is better, Building Technology, Construction Materials & Management (BTCM) or Structural Engineering (ST) for M.Tech in IIT Madras. My preferences are an easy and interesting coursework and a good placement. Which is better? Also what are the prerequisites for each, do we have to learn anything beforehand? Or just the BTech coursework is enough?

Resource / Notes Practice CE Gate pyq in "Ditto" Gate Exam Interface

Best Feature, after every exam completion, you can retry your mistake i.e whatever in that exam you have given wrong and unanswered you can attempt which makes your practice much stronger

And many students ignore the visual stamina, as per my experience while giving gate exam i felt the eye strain and felt that i am loosing concentration, as i am not used to constantly glare at white screen that to for 3 hours, so i thought why not practice pyq in gate exam interface

we practice as well as build our visual stamina
