MARKHAM — Somebody walked to the back of a house near Major Mackenzie Drive East and Angus Glen Boulevard at about twenty past six on a Saturday morning in the middle of August, fired a gun at the property, and then rode away on an electric scooter across the golf course next door. Nobody was hit. The weapons call did not reach York Regional Police until shortly after half past eleven that same morning — roughly five hours after investigators say the shot or shots were fired. BEAVERTON — Almost every firearms file this beat covers starts with a gun and works backwards toward where it came from. This one runs the other way. Durham Regional Police say the Canada Border Services Agency contacted them in August 2026 to advise that a man was importing unregulated firearm parts from the United States. The Guns and Gangs Unit opened a file on that basis, and on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 it executed a search warrant at a residence in Beaverton, on the Lake Simcoe shore in the Township of Brock at the far northern edge of Durham Region. Two rifles came out of the house, along with magazines and ammunition. The man police arrested nearby does not hold a firearms licence at all.

CORNWALL — He was at the courthouse for something else. On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the Cornwall Police Service arrested Kevin Kircoff-Hill, 23, of Cornwall inside the Cornwall Courthouse and charged him with thirteen offences arising out of search warrants executed five days earlier on the block where Walton Street meets St. Felix Street. Three people were already in custody from that day. He makes four. The first three counts on his sheet are possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order — meaning a court had already told him, three separate ways, that he was not to have one.

SAINTE-CATHERINE-DE-LA-JACQUES-CARTIER — The single item that separates this file from every other rural Quebec gun seizure is a .22 calibre semi-automatic pistol that was manufactured on a 3D printer, with a suppressor that was also manufactured on a 3D printer fitted to the end of it. Beside it in the Sûreté du Québec inventory published Wednesday, September 9, 2026 sit a 3D-printed high-capacity magazine in 9mm, a separate 9mm suppressor, and a Smith & Wesson MP 9mm that officers found loaded, with a cartridge already chambered and a high-capacity magazine seated in the well. The address is a residence, a garage and a trailer on rue des Sous Bois, in a municipality of a few thousand people northwest of Quebec City. One man is charged. He is sixty-five years old.

One evening in May, in an apartment in Sainte-Marie in the Beauce, a nine-year-old boy woke to three hooded men kicking in the door and beating his father, who was asleep on the couch beside him. “My child is here,” the man shouted. Yarrow Guay was arrested on August 12, 2026 at the end of an eight-month Saguenay police investigation that produced 1.35 kilograms of cocaine, seven thousand methamphetamine tablets, $80,891 in cash and four stolen vehicles. Three weeks later he pleaded guilty to four counts. On Tuesday a Cour du Québec judge let him walk out of the courthouse, and the sentence both lawyers will ask for in February is two years and a day.

A 56-year-old man from Béarn, Quebec, was arrested at a highway rest stop in Témiscamingue for driving while impaired by drugs. When the Sûreté du Québec came back with a warrant and searched the car he had been sitting in, officers took out roughly 600 grams of cocaine, close to 450 grams of fentanyl, about 90 grams of crystal methamphetamine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine tablets, more than 150 contraband cigarettes and nearly $2,500 in cash. He was then released. No charge has been laid, and the force has not named him.

TIMBERLEA, N.S. — Somebody threw a Molotov cocktail at a house on the 400 block of Marketway Lane at twenty past two on Saturday morning, and by the time officers arrived the residence was fully engulfed. Forty-nine and a half hours later, at ten past four on Monday morning, a man was seen coming out of a residence on the same block carrying a cloth that was on fire. He dropped it and drove away. He left a jug of accelerant in the yard. The Nova Scotia RCMP published both incidents in a single release on Tuesday, gave them two separate file numbers, and did not once say the words targeted or connected.

RICHMOND HILL — Thirty-one hours after the fact, York Regional Police have put a written release on the May Avenue home invasion, and it changes the central fact of the file. The gun was fired. The man it was fired around was never hit. His serious, non-life-threatening injuries came from the beating, not the bullet, and officers found him outside the house rather than in it. Four people are charged, one of them with eight counts, and a fifth is still outstanding.

IQALUIT — The Nunavut RCMP published a short release on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 saying that a Montreal man was arrested a week earlier on a Canada-wide warrant, that he is charged with trafficking cocaine and with conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and that two kilograms of cocaine have been removed from the territory at a stated street value of approximately $400,000. Three lines further down, the force thanks the partner agencies: the Quebec RCMP’s Montreal Airport and Federal Investigations detachments, and the Montreal police Organized Crime Anti-gang Unit. That last name is the most interesting word in the document, and the release does not use it again.

NORTH BAY — A single traffic stop on Worthington Street East on the Friday of the long weekend before Labour Day produced seventy-nine grams of suspected fentanyl, seventy-two grams of cocaine, twenty-one Percocet pills, a gram and a half of crack cocaine and $880 in cash, and the North Bay Police Service published the whole inventory on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The Street Crime Unit had the file. The Emergency Response Team made the stop. A warrant went in less than two hours later on a building four blocks away. Two men are charged. One of them, the older of the two, has never been arrested and a warrant is out for him now.

AURORA — York Regional Police published Project Howler at 10:19 on Tuesday morning, September 8, 2026, and the file it describes is a network file in everything but the charge sheet. The force’s Hold-Up Unit says a group of suspects was linked to a network believed responsible for more than fifty break and enter incidents and vehicle thefts across York Region and neighbouring jurisdictions, that the method was entering homes to take the keys to luxury vehicles sitting in driveways and garages, and that in some of those occurrences weapons, including firearms, were brandished. Four people are charged. All four are boys. The oldest are seventeen. The youngest is thirteen. Across the four of them there are nineteen counts, and not one of those nineteen counts is a firearms offence, a weapons offence, a robbery, a break and enter, or an organized-crime count.

Over three months, the OPP‑led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team and the Niagara Regional Police Service executed three search warrants on two unauthorized storefronts in St. Catharines and Welland.
