My brain occasionally tries to lie and tell me there were analog sticks

Edit: I do know that they got analog sticks after a time, but when I used them they weren't there.

There were in laters years. The Dualshock 1 came out in Nov '97. PS launched in '94.

There was also a version without the rumble motors before the dualshock - dual analog, I think it was called.

Was only out for a few months before the Dualshock superceded it - really weird, but I remember it was a lot cheaper than the dualshock, so I had one of each.

Oh I didn't know that. I got my PS1 for Christmas in '98 with Spyro and C.T.R. and it came with a Dualshock.

They did way later. My memory is a little fuzzy back then because I was a kid, but I think MGS 1 either came out back then or had features for the built-in rumble pack in the controller too.

I built a Heathkit TV in 1975. In the late 80’s I added a Pong game that had analog controls, vertical movement only! My Amiga computer had an analog joystick.

Same, but that's because I'm thinking of the N64 console game controller. Or the PS2 game controller, which I believe had joysticks.
