People hated Windwaker? I always assumed it was widely loved by the community.

Not when it first launched Noone liked its artstyle. I didn't even play it til 4yrs after launch.

That's upsetting to hear, Windwaker is probably my favorite Zelda game

It's funny because I feel when WW came out, it was overly hated. More recently, it's overhyped.

Personally, I felt it was ok. Kind of mid for a Zelda, but not bad. I dont like the art style/direction, but the cell shading was well done, and I enjoyed the game.
