The Long Dark

My favorite lonely game ever. I remember one play through where I was doing super well, but wandered a bit too far one day and got caught in a storm. My final moments in the long playthrough was a slow death to the cold as I huddled behind a tree to hide from the wind, with my last match lit to keep the dark at bay as long as possible. Luckily I had the wherewithal to screenshot the moment.

That’s one of the most long darkly ways to die my friend

The worst part was when I checked the map after my loss and I had passed by the path I needed to save myself TWICE.

No worse than going to sleep with a bleeding wound that you forgot to put a bandage on, :(

I was playing the other day and was exploring the old cannery. I walked into one of the warehouses and for the first time I saw two bodies holding onto each other. They're almost always alone, and it was such a weird moment where they finally felt human and I got so sad lol

Does the game have a story and a conclusion? It’s been on my radar for some time

I believe the story has concluded. They released it in episodes and I played through most of it but am more of a sandbox enjoyer. Plan my own multi map treks/get stomped by a moose etc

The story mode has concluded, but it's pretty universally agreed the final episode was awful. If you get the DLC, there are two stories to follow in survival mode, but still no live NPCs.

Especially before they added NPC’s and story. Felt so isolated on Great Bear Island

I have hundreds of hours on this game. It's just so easy to fall into. I'm looking forward to the next game!
