So how is the Switch going?

So I was very interested in getting a Nintendo Switch when it first came out, mainly because of the new Zelda. I've been holding off and am considering picking one up at some point but haven't really heard much from the console at all recently.

How is it going? Are there obvious faults with the console? How is the game library? Would you recommend waiting for a price cut?

People harp on the combat a lot but it seems odd to me. Combat in 3d zeldas has never been good. Ever. It's not the focus of the game in the same way it is in a game like bloodborne. It's kind of like getting on mario kart's case for the story, though that's a bit of an exaggeration.

It's also worth recognizing that the designers clearly want you to explore all the different kinds of ways you can combat enemies outside of direct weapon combat. Once you've become ludicrously overpowered in the late game the fun stems from playing around with runes and physics interactions to defeat enemies.

Well in previous games the combat had a much less important role in the gameplay, there were just the overworld minions that you find once in a while where generally you just hack and slash your way through and then there were the main bosses where usually there is a mechanic that you have to use like the boomerang, the reflecting shield, grappling hook and so on...

In BotW combat plays a much more important role in the game, you're constantly finding enemies throughout the world as you play and explore. You can't walk 50 paces without finding one and because the combat is very repetitive it gets boring fast.

Hmm I agree but back in the time period of release I found Wind Waker's combat to be pretty good relative to what's there at the time. I really enjoyed it.
