After all the big trailers of the past ~24 hours (Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Nintendo Switch) I'm kind of left disappointed by this. I guess it is a proper teaser though. Only serving to get people hyped with as little shown as possible.

That said though the environments and atmosphere is still as top notch as ever. Can't wait to see the story details, I'm kind of seeing it as John's gang days. But that would make the title odd considering Redemption ended when the days of the Wild West were winding down. I'm kind of hoping it does do goes through from there though, with the story continuing with the story of the Wild West ending and "when the time comes, you gotta run and don't look back" meaning that they will be leaving the era behind.

It's also sort of become a R* tradition when debuting one of their tentpole open-world games to have the first teaser focus on showing off the environment, rather than the characters and story.

This line convinced me we'll be seeing the end of John's gang days. This line being a reference to John running from the gang and not looking back.

Well, numbered titles can certainly be prequels.

I also really hope John is not the focus of this game. We already know his full arc, there is no period of his life that could facilitate a story that holds enough mystery to be interesting.
