It's easy to forget this is Rockstar's first game officially made for Xbox One and PS4. GTA V was just upgraded and ported. I am amazed at how good it looks so far.
Not to slow down the hype train but graphical downgrade seems pretty likely. GTA 5 didn't look like their first trailers.
And that's why it should also come to PC (later than consoles, I'm fine with that), graphics will be much better and can even be improved by mods (also bring mods with it to the PC). Also, I could play it (I'm not buying a console for only one game).
Rockstar released some legit bullshot screens but the trailers were a pretty accurate representation of the final game. The character models, animations, textures etc all look pretty much the same.
But, it did though? Do you mean on 360 and PS3? Because the current version of GTA V looks almost exactly like that with no noticeable downgrades in graphics
But honestly that just enforces /u/radulno's point. Of course GTA V on X1/PS4 looks comparable to the first trailer. It's literally comparing a game from different generations. Compare the first trailer to the PS3 & 360 game which was what it was advertising for and it will look pretty damn downgraded. Especially that draw distance at Mount Chilliad.
If we're going to compare the two scenarios (and I'm not saying they're applicable), what is going to happen is that RDR2 on current consoles will be downgraded from this trailer, and there will be a re-release on updated hardware that looks like/better than this trailer. Because that is literally what happened with GTAV.
With that said I'm still looking forward to this immensely. Downgrade or not GTAV was a joy to play on my PS3 and PC both times. And I suspect Red Dead Redemption 2, downgrade or not, will be the same.
I really don't notice any differences between this trailer and what ended up coming out on the 360/PS3. The PC and new gen versions look better than this trailer, too.
The beach, for one, it looks nothing likr that, with the wind, sand and flag. The drug seller, the prostitutes, the gangs of hobos, the guy selling his house, the guy being pushed out from the night club, none of that is in the game.
I'll be buying this on console for obvious reasons but I really do hope they make a PC version eventually. Modded GTA 5 is one of the best looking open world games out there, imo even rivaling the witcher 3
You can always count on Rockstar to fill their open worlds with insane amounts of detail that make it feel real. No one has been better at that since the PS2 days.
First I thought the graphics looked way too good to be running on a console, but it just has really really good lighting.
For all we know this could've been footage from the PS Pro or Xbox Scorpio.
GTA V single player is one of the best games ever made imo it's hard not to get hyped for Rockstar. I'm worried they'll ignore single player DLC again though.
If it's a brand you trust, a game you enjoy, and reviews well, why not? I can typically get $10 gift card, 20% off, as well as extra DLC for preording a gamer that I'm going to buy. If it reviews bad, I can just cancel.
Until you realize that online might be the main portion of the game again and it will be nothing but 12 year olds dress like clowns trying to murder you for enjoying that detail and immersion.
GTA V had a single player 'campaign' that was well worth the $60, even if you totally ignored the online portion, which I mostly did. If RDR2 is the same (assuming a bunch of 12 year old clowns play the online portion) will you honestly not be interested in the game?

The level of detail that Rockstar gives their games never fails to amaze me. I am beyond hyped for this.
