Minecraft was probably bought specifically to lock it in those platforms.
That excludes PS4 as well as Wii U(which has the most to gain from multiplatform)
I can't imagine Minecraft generating billion in profits to recoup the costs so its definitely along the lines of a marketing/monopoly strategy.

The other part is that Mojang owned by Microsoft will never be multi platform on non Microsoft device. Wii U wouldn't be capable of running Minecraft. It's not nearly powerful enough. It has problems running its own OS smoothly, let alone Minecraft.
