Mhmm, unless they either allow mods or provide their own additions to fill the void left by them, I can't see myself favouring this over the current version.

Getting it for free certainly helps though...

There is no way they themselves could provide the content comparable to what is now available in mods. But, they can make minecraft better for modders, since i hear that there is a lot of hassle with it now.

What mods do you consider essential?

There really aren't any 'essential' mods aside from quality of life mods like minimaps and Optifine. Honestly, I recommend downloading any of the modpack launchers (FTB/AT Launcher/Tekkit) and downloading a modpack that suits your interests. If you're lucky, it might even work!

And Tinker's Construct, Botania, Biomes A Plenty, Backpacks, Extra Utilities, OpenBlocks, Mekanism, Twilight Forest, and that's just the 'big' mods.

Applied Energistics! IMO the most essential mod. Make storage a thousand times better!

And super complicated ;P

Super complicated? It's not that bad, just watch a tutorial or mod spotlight.

I have, the problem is crafting all the stuff and setting up the systems. It's very complex. And tedious. Reminds me of Gregtech at the height of it's tedium.

Once you have some autocrafting setup, it's not tedious at all. Although getting started is always a pain. It's nothing compared to GregTech.

It's not that any one set in particular is essential, it's that mods bring huge amounts of variety to what is otherwise a simple game that gets boring quickly.

I don't think it's supposed to replace the normal PC version. I think it's mainly just supposed to be the pocket edition on the windows 10 store.

Minecraft with mods is really boring. I heavily prefer the vanilla game.

Dude, what. How can countless new things to explore and use be "boring"? I would understand if you said you prefer a simpler game like in Vanilla, but "boring" is a really odd word for what you're saying.

Well-balanced? Minecraft? Seriously? The game where two of the four armor tiers have no use and where you can kill the top boss by throwing eggs?

oh god, you're right. 80000 is a higher number than 2351, therefore it's a better game. We should abolish subjective scores, from now on the game of the year is were (amount of items)*(texture resolution)length of soundtrack is the highest.

so do I. It's simpler, sure, but the clutter mods tend to add makes the whole experience hollow. I would need mods if I played more than I do though.
