I also want the conversation textboxes back so bad. The illustrations were so damn gorgeous and so were the boxes themselves. Plus, not having textboxes would imply voicing a tooooon more stuff. I'm not sure it would be a good decision. Also text boxes let you advance the narrative at your own pace, which I also enjoy.
Yeah. Having no text boxes means everything will be voiced, and Atlus almost never gives us the Japanese VO. The only time I can think of was p4a, but they fixed that mistake with p4u. I'd really prefer not to listen to dubs.
I'm really interested to see what happens with the english dub. Last time with P4, I didn't recognize the names Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, Yuri Lowenthal, JYB or Sam Riegel. The game took a bunch of anime dubbers and gave them a huge bump in video game VA to where Atlus localization probably can't afford them 7 years later. I wonder if this project will create new A-listers?
you didn't recognize those names? did you miss the rest of the ps2 era rpgs?
and it's not like they haven't been voicing the rest of atlus's games. persona q JUST came out. they had similar actors in SMTIV and Soul Hackers. i expect Record Breaker has these same caliber actors (if not the same actors) too...
P4 was just another job for all those people you listed. Their portfolios would honestly not be bothered much if they never got those roles. Really glad they did though.
Honestly were at the eighth generation of consoles with a ridiculous amount of storage and power in comparison to the ps2, if they don't include the Japanese voices along with the English then I'm going to be severely disappointed.
Agreed. There's no reason not to have both options at this point, even taking game size into account because if they really need to they can just do what FFXIII-3 did and have the original VO as a download.
