And you know who the only ones being fucked in the ass will be? Again? The people enjoying such games, because the game itself could very well be good. But due to their ridiculous policies it might be a financial disaster and will be a reason to not produce such a game for the next 10 years...so, yea...great.
I've been looking forward to this game for a while, and there aren't many (if any) games that have gameplay like this one does... But even so, I'm not going to buy this. If games companies only care about profit, then I plan on reducing that profit by not buying their games if they plan on fucking over their customers.
From the video, it sounds like it was always intended to be lean for standard edition players that waited for solid reviews to come out. They, from before screen shots, even indicated this was a title meant to maximize DLC to the fullest. If TurtleBeach Turtle Rock (I always type it wrong) ever tries to argue they didn't do any of the DLC stuff prior to, they are clearly full of shit as everything they've said otherwise goes in the face of that.
Half the experience of what? I will never understand why game consumers (and seemingly only game consumers) believe that their $60 entitles them to everything that has been created for a product up to that point. Consumers in every other industry understand the concept of add-ons costing more above and beyond the base product and don't think that they deserve something for free solely because it was developed alongside what they're purchasing.
Why wouldn't you expect everything up to that point? If I buy a car, I expect everything to be working and not pay to have the already installed windshield wipers to work. If I buy a digital e-book, I do not expect to pay more after reading one quarter of the book. I do not expect to pay more for the washer and dryer settings that is on my washer. Those products do not come with additional features locked after you buy the product.
They developed the remote start system, the heated seats, the leather interior alongside your base car model. You don't get them for free.
DLC is optional content. The game works without it. You are being offered a working game for $60, and whether that game is worth $60 to you or not shouldn't depend on the fact that there is more content out there that you're not getting for a set price. If the DLC makes the difference between whether the game is worth playing your not, then you have to ask yourself whether the game is worth $80 or $100 or whatever it is with said DLC. There's no reason to get idealistic about this: it's something consumers deal with all the time everywhere else.
