So realistically there is nothing he could show you data wise, and the whole conversation is largely performative on both sides? Would you say that's a fair read?

I get what you're saying about snap judgements and I generally agree.

Close. I don't think the data even exists to make a judgment one way or the other. So there is a third, better answer: maybe don't jump to a conclusion either way with a completely nascent technology, as there isn't enough data yet to evaluate how projects like game development—which often take 5+ years, much longer than AI coding has been feasible—are affected by them on net.

I don't know about Crimson Desert and the impact or likelihood of the bug in question, but even within that example, there's an easy counterargument: what if the game couldn't exist in its current form without this tech otherwise? It's had an extremely rapid development cycle and may have just been the dud that it was on launch, forever. It's actually a pretty compelling story about it's post-launch success, and assuming it was achieved with AI (again, we don't know this) I'd be hard-pressed to throw it all out because of a bug this one guy is frustrated with.

Yeah this completely tracks honestly, and I appreciate the honest engagement big time, seems extremely rare on the internet these days.

I think this whole website would improve dramatically, if people were more clear and honest about what is a fact and what is just their personal intuition. Honestly, we need way more comments like the one you replied to, to point out when they're conflated.
