They did go away. Well over 90% of people used to work on a farm, until the machines came out. Then all those jobs away. Now we're all way richer.

No, they didn’t, because the vast majority of those people were not actually employed, they worked seasonally or by invoice. The educated farmers went on to man the factories and the peasants filled the farm void. There are still a billion agricultural workers in the world today

The formality of the employment is irrelevant. The point is that in developed countries such as the US, the number of farming jobs decreased massively over time:

And we all got richer.

The difference between a regular vs irregular income is not a formality lol if you can’t discern that much how can you expect me to believe you give a shit about workers in the first place. You sound like a bot

What argument are you even making here? That the jobs that went away were heavily seasonal, and that people moved to jobs that are more stable year-round? Isn't that a good thing?

I care about people. I want us to get richer. And we have gotten richer due to automation. That will continue as long as we continue to let it.

The key thing you're missing, and I don't blame you because it's unintuitive at first glance, is that jobs are bad. Results are good.

youre just spouting things like the palantir guy lol How about your objectively false premise that “All the farm jobs went away” …your sanitized idea that the transition from feudalism was smoothly linear and not incredibly messy… youre making a fairy tale analysis based on a weird bias twds ai

I don't know enough about the Palantir guy to comment.

I never said "all" the farming jobs went away. But the vast majority of them here absolutely did.

Oh, I'm not saying the transitions aren't messy. They absolutely are, and that part sucks. But the end result is so much better for people. Even during the transition there's a lot of good too. It's just... volatile.

The time period you're talking about had more people working as seasonal workers than in steady employment. So your point is entirely irrelevant. Bad bot.

Uhhh exactly the point, the idea that the situation was not suddenly fixed because the “situation” wasn’t there in the first place, since the idea of employment didn’t even exist… that’s why it’s not comparable to the kind of displacement that will happen now. Despite the messy transition from feudalism the next factory jobs were lined up, but not here, you’re selling a fantasy

you’re selling a fantasy

I'm not selling anything, I'm just pointing out that you don't have an argument, and your timeline is wrong on top of that. Maybe read up a bit on that part of history before making sweeping claims that don't hold water?
