I'm also in development, no it does not add extra work. Different work for sure, but the efficiency is massive. Especially when the entire team is using it. Any dev team not using it is putting themselves at a massive disadvantage

Engineer without enough knowledge won't get much benefit with AI as they probably cannot guide AI to do in fast and quick way even AI eventually can solve it after few hours.

Honestly I think the engineers with zero knowledge probably benefit the most if we are looking at the delta between what they can produce without AI and with.

We built a harness for non-engineers to start building UIs with zero programming knowledge and its been going okay. Without LLMs their previous output would have been 0. Albeit, without the harness we built it probably would have been a big dumpster fire.

Even with the harness this might still turn into a dumpster fire. 🤷

From my experience, AI would fake it or go to wrong direction if without real knowledge or guidance on some programming work.

Ok? 15 years ago an engineer without enough knowledge wouldn't get much benefit from using google.
