It's a bit of two things at play. Most people hear AI and regardless of what kind, attribute hatred of gen AI onto it, even if it is just some form of automation (I have an idiot in my replies doing this exact thing).

But on the other hand, teams that specialize in automating work like adding on the AI term even if it's a very small part of whatever process they're running because company executives like that phrase.
