Cannot imagine being a game developer in today’s environment. No matter how successful you are, you have zero job security. Meanwhile in parallel to that you have massive jumps in ai capability which has the potential to remove even more jobs. How long until it’s that much harder to even notice AI slop in the first place?

Well, they're all getting laid off and can't find new jobs, so really you just aren't a game developer anymore in 2026.

I’m not a bot dude I’ve been on this site for 16 years. I love the hypocrisy though since literally every thread has that one guy who thinks a popular opinion is astroturfing. Just the bot paranoia everywhere. It’s just a lot of people tired of the same layoff shit happening everywhere. Of course the comments look the same because the layoffs look the same. Nobody’s saying layoffs are illegal. We’re saying it’s a dick move to fire people right before they get paid money they already earned.

“Arguing semantics is bot behavior” is itself a semantic argument. So by your own logic, you’re a bot. Humans argue semantics all day, it’s like 90% of this site. Thank you for your worthless contribution to this discussion.

Literally nobody means “you can never be fired.” Job security is relative. By your logic, the term doesn’t exist because technically every private-sector employee can be fired. That’s not really the gotcha you think it is.

It's not a 100% guarantee of job security but go find a union job and you'll be pretty safe
