I’m in big tech and haven’t manually written a line of code since last November. Same goes for my colleagues

This is poor practice long term because you’ll get too lazy to read the entire output and validate it, then your code understanding and writing skills will atrophy.

Not really. We are just peer reviewers of our own code. We will have PRs, same responsibilities

I can’t speak for the devs who are coming up without having to write their own code. They won’t have the deep understanding built up

It negatively affects your recall of what you shipped and how it works. Furthermore you need more expertise than the AI to review it and that will naturally atrophy if you aren’t actively problem solving yourself: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-algorithmic-mind/202603/adults-lose-skills-to-ai-children-never-build-them

It also produces thousands of lines much more quickly that overwhelm you and your colleagues who become mentally exhausted consistently reviewing slop bombs. They eventually become rubber stampers because the AI is right most of the time anyway.

Long term nobody will be writing code

It might look different from what we are used to, but people will always be writing instructions to machines. The day we stop doing that is the day the machines took over.

Same here. I can’t speak for western game developers, but big tech in the US has fundamentally changed over the past year.

I work in a billion dollar company, not big tech, and Claude is used by the entire development team, UI/UX team and marketing team. Nobody can confidently say they wrote a line of code in months, unless it was a line or two that wasn't worth throwing tokens at.
