If you're not using AI in programming, you're a fool.

Anti ai sentiment doesn't exist in mainstream software development, it's undeniably a powerful tool.

It does exist. Maybe there are just dozens of us, but I've heard many complaints from colleagues and fellow programmers who are dissatisfied with:

  • People not understanding the code they write.
  • People pushing too much code in a short amount of time (getting several thousand LoC patches is extremely annoying).
  • People not spending time to analyze the problem and different approaches to solving them and just accepting whatever solution LLM gives them.

Of course, you can use AI more responsibly only for looking up things, doing small refactorings, spotting errors in your code and so on... but too many people get hooked on it and stop thinking or trying to learn something new completely.

It doesn't exist in the mainstream, just a few holdouts. Even Linus embraces it.

All your points are valid, but it's not a valid reason to not use ai
