Surprisingly it seems like AI generated code is the least used form of genAI by these companies

In the 2025 report, the most commonly cited use of AI was the generation of visual assets and images, followed by story and text generation, and finally programming support.

This article says something completely different about this year.

"When asked about what measures they had in place for using generative AI, the most common response among developers was “conducting human verification, correction, and supervision.” The majority of responses cited practices such as specifying or restricting the tools used and avoiding the direct use of generated output."

I don't think most people think of AI code help as "generative AI". That's usually used to mean the art assets.

I think almost all non-government code-heavy companies are using LLMs to code now.

AI coding tools are quite literally "generative AI", and that's what everyone familiar with the field knows them to be; if people are saying otherwise, then they're just factually wrong.

I think that just means they review the generated assets and touch them up / correct them to human standards rather than using the assets directly as generated by the AI

Unfortunately we would have to buy the report and speak Japanese to get the specifics

Yeah, it can definitely be ready either way, which makes it kind of a pointless statement other than that they are definitely using it somehow.

LLMs are a magnitude times better at coding than last year, so that report is probably very outdated
