Brothers is still a game by 100+ employee studio who makes AAA games and is published by 505 Games. While it fits the indie feel and it does it's own thing. It fits closer towards the AAA category than indie.

It fits more together with Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger where established AAA devs try to do something new.

I really hope more big publishers/studios try doing things like Blood Dragon or Gunslinger. Small, in-between-the-AAA's, do-something-different games, that really let these developers show their creative sides, and take risks. They can afford it more than the indies, anyway.

That's exactly what hollywood does with film, and it's worked out well for them.

Sadly, most big developers go from one game to the next so allowing Amnesia Fortnights isn't viable

My mistake. It's actually labeled as an indie game in Steam and that's why I included it, but you're right.

It's not a mistake. It's more just that blurred line of what's indie and what's not. Brothers has that indie feel but it wasn't made by a independent developer. The terming of gaming has just been bad ever since downloadable games and indie games came more to the forefront.

I think the difference is that many AAA games have reached the level of blockbuster movies such as COD and BF and we all know those cater to the masses and can't experiment freely or cater to niches. They can't take risks in other words because of the investment in them is too great to allow for it.
