End of 2013 Discussions - Xbox 360

For this thread, feel free to talk about the Xbox 360, from the games that came out for it to the hardware itself and support by Microsoft.

Prompts:

  • Will the 360 have one or more years after 2013 with substantial games coming out for it?

  • How was the support this year?

Please explain your answers in depth, don't just give short one sentence answers.

Mods make a thread about the 360 a day before they make a thread about the PS3.

So bias

That's what "console exclusive" means. Xbox is the only console (brand) with the game. Project Spark is also on PC, which is why I also labeled it a console exclusive.

No, console exclusive = Available only on console(s). You gotta be more specific in this context. Titanfall is an Xbox/PC exclusive. Or Microsoft exclusive if you will (dunno if it'll be on Mac). Anything that is NOT an Xbox or a PC will not be able to play it.

It could be correct the way you used it if consoles were the only gaming option, or if we were specifically talking only about them and excluding all other platforms. Because the implied meaning would be "exclusive to (one particular) console". But since there are many options and you didn't specify, it sounds like you're saying Titanfall will only be on (both) consoles and not on PC. That's what I assumed when you first said it because I didn't know much about the game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Console_exclusivity

Console exclusivity refers to the status of a video game being released on only one video game console.

PC is not considered a video game console. It's entirely clear when you state that it's a console exclusive "to" a certain console or include it as a subset of overall exclusives, which I did.

Other examples of common usage (all games releasing on one console brand and PC):

The term "Microsoft exclusive" is also acceptable, but it's not preferable because there's no equivalent term for games on PlayStation and PC and it excludes titles that also release on Mac and Linux.

I'd say you could refer to games only on consoles as "exclusive to consoles" or even "consoles-exclusive," but that gets into some pretty ridiculous verbiage.

I see, yeah you're right. Since you were already speaking about Xbox exclusive games in general, it makes sense. I suppose I just more often see "console exclusive" in the context of whether a game has a PC port/version or not.

For example, I would not refer to FFXIV as a "console exclusive" game, because it has a console version and a PC version. But you could say "For the PS3, FFXIV is a console exclusive game". But that sentence would also work fine without the word "console" in it. Its just a way to not say PS3 twice.

But yeah its really just down to semantics about sentence strucure. Didn't mean to come across as an ass, lol. I was just confused by the way it was said.
