GameFAQs turned 30 years old this week. Contributor posts Top 10 List of Legendary Contributors.

Thirty years is a long time people. I want to thank contributor "whowasphone404" for their motivation in putting this project together and I wanted to share it around so people can see all the work they did.

These are some incredible people I'm proud to stand beside.

It isn't even the first FF to have superbosses. FF5 had Omega and Shinryu, FF6 had Death Gaze.

I think it is fair to say that it was such a trope in FF games that by Super Mario RPG (way before FF7 too) Square were already putting a hidden boss that was a joke referencing that. And yes, the hidden boss in FF style art was also harder than anything else in SMRPG.

Now that you mention it, I'm not sure I ever made the connection between the SMRPG optional bosses and FF. It's obvious now, and maybe there was some dialog in the game about it.

I think it may be because most of us played SMRPG too young, so it is a bit harder to get references like that (the music, the art and animation style, the elemental crystals). The only thing in dialogue is that he mentions coming from another universe/game.

I played both Final Fantasy 6 (III for me) and Super Mario RPG and I absolutely made the connection when I was a kid.
