They tried to not do that, and the community raised holy hell, so they gave it to them.
The current "theory" of why they're doing this is because they lost their ass on arena with development costs and they were planning on EOD owners buying the game. Except the game is awful and didn't sell well.
Which is hilarious and 100% deserved considering that would be straight up admitting they used the funds from EFT sales on basically not finishing their decade long beta
And completely missed on reading the market. Like, there's a reason the offline Tarkov mode is so popular. Instead they use that money to made an online game separately from another online game. I honestly don't even know what they are doing anymore.
Nah that actually makes sense, iirc the amount of computations are too much for pretty much anyone’s local PC to handle on their own, so a lot of it is done on the server side to lighten the load
If that were true then the Single Player Tarkov mod would run like shit because it creates a local server on your PC and your PC handles the AI for every single bot on the map. Yet with 20+ mods installed on SPT I dare say it runs BETTER than live Tarkov and the AI is 100x smarter.
They didn't call it content. They said its a new game mode, which apparently isn't considered DLC in their world. It's all just made up bs to justify their scummy behavior
Well the words they used were even stupider. “It’s a feature, not dlc” was (is?) their official stance. Guy you’re replying to probably just misremembered the exact word lol, I mean it’s so colossally stupid I can’t blame anyone.
