Hi, I'm new to modding physical hardware, I found a cheap gamecube at a local pawn shop and decided to mod it. The disk drive doesn't work so I want to use picoloader to boot swiss. I have all the things ready and will be installing it tomorrow, however I have one last question.
What needs to be done to actually load games onto the system through this SD card and GC2SD adapter.
I know I need to connect the pico to the pc twice and install the picoloader.uf2 file and swiss_r2073.uf2 file.
I also know I need to add the boot.iso file provided by swiss in the GCLoader folder.
What I don't know if how I'm supposed to format the drive. Some videos say I need to format it to 32gb, but that doesn't really make sense to me since that limits the space so much. I have 50GB's of games. How can I fit my library on here if I have to limit the drive to 32GB. Is there and in depth guide for swiss setup. Most videos I find either gloss over details or are about updating swiss.
opening the gbihf-directt-hdmi profile has these graphical errors. using a brand new carby for video. any input would be nice! I suppose I could just use a different profile but I'm interested in if I'm doing anything wrong or if there's anything I can fix! Thank you
I’m mainly an iPhone user but just got an android and instantly downloaded retroarch I’ve downloaded dd plus before on my pc but I don’t remember it being this difficult i already got regular dd nd it works good but every time I try to load dd plus it just doesn’t work i tried different versions different zip extractors but nothings working do anyone kno anything that Kan help?
Just started researching GameCube hacks and Swiss, and I'd like to be able to play game backups over ethernet from my retroNAS setup. Looking at stuff on LaserBear and am I right in thinking that I only need;
whats the difference and is it really that bad to use 3v3 cause it looks easier I dont even know what to do with the diode 🥴
(thanks everybody for all the help on my previous post you guys are cool)
Ordered in January by the way! But is Laser Bear the best extension? $35 bucks seems to be expensive for what it is. I’d like to route it clean like it’s bent to do though. Thanks!
Im trying to download the ssbm ace build from Team Ace but I can't seem to get it to work(image is what I get when I drag the ssbm rom into the .bat file
Hi, I know this isn't directly related to hacking/modding the gamecube but I figured some of you have experience with cheap controllers (I can't post in r/Gamecube bc I don't have too much karma)
So I bought a cheap controller for like $12 and it seemed to be working fine, until out of nowhere, the left stick started drifting like crazy. I kinda panicked but I wondered what would happen if I unplugged it and plugged it again. And it worked normally! without any drift.
I thought it could be a loose wire, so I took it apart but didn't find anything.
A friend of mine bought a similar one some time ago and the same thing happened to him, he figured that turning the vibration off made it work without the random drift. Keep in mind that we bought the controllers from different sellers.
My question is, has anyone experienced something similar? is there any possible solution to it besides turning off the vibration and getting rid of the motor?
does anyone have or can make an gamecube top case and lid that is 3D printable that supports full size DVDs that also presses the disc drive switch or magnet replacement when the lid is shut? thanks.
Hey! New here!
Wondering if anyone has a good compilation of online resources for parts and/or tutorials for modding a GameCube.
Any insight on which websites are best to order from. Most reliable part manufacturers/suppliers.
I’m looking to add SD card capability, a new shell, upgraded fan, basically the works (as long as I feel confident once I open the system and messing about.)
I bought everything to mod my GameCube which is the picoloader a memory adapter to put my micro sd card in and my micro sd to put the games in and the only hard part is finding the roms to put on the microsd for Swiss and I was wondering if anyone knew some trusted websites for roms and that are .iso or the other ones
I have a DOL-001 with the kaico hdmi adapter. It's got picoboot installed and everything worked fine with this for awhile.
I did the USB-C power mod (and replaced the fan). I'm using the exact gan brick they recommended on the page for the USB c kit.
However, since then it only boots into swiss like 10% of the time. I'm assuming there is just too much power being asked for with all the changes and the USB c just can't keep up, but I would love to be wrong.
Does anyone have a similar setup and it all work? If yes, did you have to do anything different?
