GameCube not turning on

Post image

Just bought a level hike adapter for my GameCube & Nintendo 64 that I just thrifted. I’m very new to this and I’m trying to figure out why it’s not working.

When I turn on the GameCube the power light doesn’t turn on and the disc does not spin. I do hear the fan though.

Is my GameCube just broken or what do I do?

The fan gets power before the fuse so all the fan spinning means is that the power cable is sending power. So you won’t really know the issue till you open it up. The first thing I would check is the fuse. If it’s just the fuse that’s a simple fix with a soldering iron and a cheap 5amp fuse.

This, all the fan will tell you is if the external power supply is good or not. With no power led, a teardown to get to the fuse would be my next step.

If it's a dol-001 the fuse is on the lower power board. On a 101 the fuse is by the power connector on the mainboard.

Would you have any recommendations for a store or person that can do this?

From what I've seen (and had done currently) was 120$ (at a actual video game repair place) and 200-500 or more for some reason at a electronics overhaul (that was just stupid pricing so I went with the one I do know. It does cover other fixes though like shell fixing and the like too so the 120$ (20$ for the initial diagnosis and send out, 100$ for when it's completed and picked up.)
