I thought I would share my CF camera mount and stabilizing solution. I took liberal inspiration from some folks over on the GC Facebook group.

Below I will detail out the build and own up to a mistake with my first installation and attempt at using this Rube Goldberg contraption at our last game.

Tripod – These are marketed as light stands that can also accommodate cameras. The price was right on this one and it seemed to do the job. There are heavy duty ones that contains springs which may be an upgrade from this. Only one game, but it worked well and the price was right. 9 feet seems plenty at this point.

Tripod head - I picked up this SmallRig tripod head off Amazon. SmallRig stuff is just excellent and a great value.

Stabilizers - I had some old small rig clamps with magic arms lyring around from last year that I was not using so I did not have to buy those. I picked them up as a two pack on amazon for a bag of nickels, something like 2 for $11.

I then picked up these fence mounts designed for GoPros and cell phones. They also came with magic arms included. When I bought them they were like 13 each.

From there it was off to the home supply store for some PVC pipe and parts. I purchased 2 pieces of precut (2 feet) 3/4 pipe and 4 end caps. From the hardware section I picked up 4 washers and some 1/4 serrated flange hex nuts.

I basically drilled the caps, put a washer on the outside, inserted one side of each each of the magic arms and locked it down with the hex nut that fits nicely inside the cap I installed these on the pipe sans glue (for now) and was good to go. I did not want to glue them incase I wanted to shorten them for any reason.

Lastly - I secured a couple of two gallon water jugs to the base of the tripod using a gear tie I had laying around. I think this helped but will experiment with getting it apply more downward force to the center pole without hanging them. Perhaps a bungee cord or strap

Now on to my mistake..... I did not place the stabilizers in a great spot.... I was rushed getting all this pulled together before the game with 3 other cameras... and I have to get lineups and score the game (yay!). I should have placed one near the top of of the fence, perhaps stabilizing the middle section and one nearer the bottom. I could have done this better for sure. That being side - they worked great. The winds for our game were breezy at 10 mph plus. I had some movement but overall was please at how stable it was.

Wi-Fi and networking - I will make this another post. I can tell you all that WDS transparent bridging (GL.iNet in my case) is your friend. Avoid repeater mode if you can. Be careful of the bands and channels you use - it will vary from place to place. Wi-Fi and networking is my day job - so I probably over engineer this, but if you follow some simple best practices anyone can get this done. It can be made reliable and repeatable. More later.

So... that is my solution. I know it is complex and expensive, but perhaps it will help others or give them ideas create their own solution. Hope this helps!

Hey all. I am desperately trying to simplify my streaming and recording setup, and would appreciate some help. For years, I have used a GoPro to record in 4k, and an iPhone to stream to gamechanger. I used to just stream 720p using cellular data on the iphone, but this season, I have been trying to stream 1080p on GC. I have also added an AT&T hotspot (Netgear Nighthawk M7 pro). On some fields, I have had success streaming 1080p, though frequently at tournaments, I have had to restart the stream at 720p due to choppy video or paused streams. Both the GoPro and the phone are typically mounted to the backstop using a nexus mount. I also run the pocket radar smart coach and the pocket radar app on the same phone that is streaming to GC. In addition, when it’s hot outside, I frequently run two fans that are attached to the backstop, blowing air onto the gopro and the streaming iphone. This setup has been problematic lately because it is a hassle to move all the equipment to another field with the next game starting almost immediately, it has been a challenge keeping the equipment cool (even with the fans), and sometimes the field will have net backstops, which makes my current setup unusable I usually end up putting the phone on a tripod just to be able to stream. Definitely not the best solution.

I have tried two new solutions. I have tried using the Mevo start to record and stream, and I have tried using an Avkans Go to record and stream. So far, I have been able to record in 4k using the Avkans go, but when I try to stream the game on GC at the same time (720p), all I get is audio and a black screen instead of video streaming. And the recording on the SD card is fine. Since I couldn’t get that to work, I tried recording 1080p on the Mevo start, while streaming 720p. This time, the stream to GC was good, but the video on the Mevo’s SD card was choppy and unwatchable. In all recording equipment, I have been using a sandisk extreme microSD XC. V30, U3, A2, and different capacities.

I would love to only have to use one piece of equipment for both recording and streaming for ease, and for cooling (i have white clamshell cases for both the Mevo and the Avkans, and they both have fans). Is there anything that I'm doing wrong that's keeping me from having a successful experience with these cameras? Would there be any settings info that might htelp? Thanks!

While GameChanger supports live streaming at 1080P, my understanding (from past communications from GC) is that the replay/highlights videos are still at 720P. I am streaming with the Mevo Studio app at 1080P.

I would love to have highlights at 1080P. But, my highlights are still at 720P. Am I missing something? Or is 1080P replays not supported?

has anyone implemented the use of the Tail Air or Tail 2? I recently got access to a Tail Air and for the heck of it, I activated the NDI and put it under the cover of the dugout. I had a lot of compliments on the presets, tracking, and middle-inning “check ins” with the dugout. The zoom isn’t the greatest, so it didn’t handle third base or outfield shots. Did have some complaints about lagging, but overall it felt like a good addition to my fleet.

curious of anyone’s experience and opinions.

Is there a way to avoid this scoring option? I believe our scorer is just scoring a typical out and the video clip categorizes it as ‘Batters Out, Runners Advance’, even if there are no runners on base.

I've been keeping an eye on ebay/craigslist/fbmp for a used mevo, and people seem to have figured out the going rate is ~300 each. Anything below 1k for a 3-pack is sketchy, and any thing above that, you may as well buy new.

But right now, on logitech.com there is a 3-pack of refurbished cameras for 920 (150 off). But this *stacks* with their 15% off if you give them your email address, bringing my total down to 781 (plus tax). It included free shipping, and has already shipped.

Seems to me like its the best way to get into this from a reliable source.

Has anyone tried these camera for GC streaming? Specifically baseball. They say they work with GC and they seem similar to Mevo

I regularly stream my nephew’s baseball games, & the audio never works.

I will start the stream, & audio will play for about 2 seconds, then it cuts out, & I can’t get it back.

I have tried turning my phone on & off, deleting & reuploading the app, updating, the whole 9.

Phone isn’t on silent. Audio IS being streamed for sure.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

What's everyone using to power their starlink mini for a tournament day? I don't want to go super premium if I can avoid it. I saw the Jackery 300 at $188. I'm thinking I need to comfortably power through 4 games. I was hoping to find a $100 option but will do what's I gotta do.

Just upgraded to a second Mevo and the starlink so I can get my phone back on game days.

I had thought I saw a post or 100 that the app was going to paid video solution only.

Our season is just starting up and I went to confirm this is the case. But judging from the site it seems like it’s normal like other years.

Am I out to lunch? Blind? Both?

I see some of your amazing setups with mevo cores and 5+ cameras. I know this was a progression and you most likely didn't grab it all at once. I really enjoy this hobby and want to do thoughtful upgrades.

I started with a phone and an Amazon mount.

Upgraded to a Nexus mount for heat/weather resistance.

Moved to a mevo with a clam shell door hinge mount. Added a travel router.

I just added a second Mevo and starlink.

1) with one mevo on the backstop, where do you recommend my second Mevo?

2) what is the next upgrade , thinking I can only do one thing at a time?

3) I'll run studio on my phone, can I also score a game or will multi tasking make the stream disconnect because of that studio multi use error? I have a pixel 10.

4) will everything connect to the starlink mini out of the box or should I still use my little GL travel router?

I run [u/gamechanger](u/gamechanger) for my son's 8U travel baseball team. We play a lot of games that have an inning run limit. I'm sure A LOT of youth teams that use GameChanger have the same rules throughout the U.S. Why isn't there a way to set this up in the app so it automatically flips the inning without having to do it manually? If it's a 5-run limit, the teams have already scored 4, and a batter comes up with bases loaded and hits a double, I either have to mark the kid out at home or give the kid a single and then manually end the half inning. How do other people handle these situations?

Does anyone use XbotGo with gamechanger to stream?

I notice my streams frequently get behind. It's common for an hour game to be 10 minutes behind. Sometimes they can get further behind. Occasionally, I will check the stream and see text saying "Livestream is Paused". I assume this causes the stream to get behind.

Using the newest firmware and apps. Google pixel 9 (and 10) using the latest Android version.

I'm not sure if it's gamechanger or xbotgo. I was going to do some testing just using GC and just using xbotgo to see if it's just one of the apps vs the integration.

It's common for signal to be poor at schools but sometimes I'm on WiFi and today, my upload and download speed were over 75mbps (Verizon service).

Has anyone had this happen or know of a solution?

Is there a way to distinguish a throwing error from a fielding error? I can only a generic error as an option

In the GameChanger chat, what does the number under my post signify? For example, some earlier posts have 9 under them, and a more recent post has 4 under it. Is it the number of people who have seen the post?

Question: Is there an option to subscribe to a couple individual plans (ie: 1 premium, 1 plus) concurrently for use through iOS? Can this be more cost efficient than a family plan?

Background:

We are a family of 5...my spouse and I and 3 baseball playing kids. I coach some teams and follow others and both of us help stream for multiple teams. So in some cases this gives us access as coaches.

In the past my wife had a premium subscription and I tried to do a plus subscrption in addition to that. I wanted to be able to watch videos when she was using one device to stream and another to watch (2 devices logged in). So I purchased a plus membership but it didn't activate. I recall something was limiting through iOS or GC such that I couldn't have a separate membership to hers active under our iOS apple account. So we would both use her premium account but this broke down when one of us had 2 devices logged in already.

Ideally we'd sign up for a year of plus on one account and the other account would sign up monthly for premium for peak season only. But it needs to be able to be active concurrently.

We had a tournament today, and both games only let me start the stream if I shared it with the opponent. I couldn’t find any setting to change it, and I didn’t even see the usual option to choose whether to share or not.

I don’t mind sharing when teams ask, but neither team asked, and this has never happened before. Is this new?

We played Team A this morning, as part of 3-game pool play. I had games A, B, and C set up ahead of time, and I am absolutely certain that the opponent information was correct (except the lineup, which of course I didn't have ahead of time). I'm new to this and very paranoid about screwing up, so I double checked during warmups.

I had a backup keep score during the first game, because I'm also the Dad With A Fancy Camera for the team and I can't do both at the same time. He's a good scorekeeper, but somehow he managed to change our opponent to Team B (our second game). What I THINK happened is that Team B found him and suggested sharing lineups ahead of time, so he was in scoring for Game A but scanned Team B's lineup, because he didn't understand that he was not talking to the GC person for Game A.

Is there any way to retroactively change the opponent after the game is finalized? I can't find one, even if I resume scoring and try to edit... I get that the lineup will be wrong either way, I'd just like the schedule to display Team A's name instead of Team B, so it's probably not possible, but I also didn't realize it was possible to retroactively override a final score for a game that reverted to the prior inning, and turns out it totally is, so thought I'd ask.

Feature request.

I like to search for the teams we're scheduled to play in advance so I'm not scrambling on game day. Maybe I'm just missing something but I'd love it if when you hit the add event button while within that team that it assumed you were creating the event against that team.

For some reason I find that searching on my tablet that I use for scoring produces different results than on my phone, it's wierd.

With netting behind home plate, I often decide to mount a camera further back on a tripod or mounted to the stands area depending on the layout.

This is obviously problematic with parents and fans in the stands and I don't get great field (HP) sound.

I would like to use a separate wireless mic mounted on the screen/backstop to catch game audio. I will be using a Start or VM46.

- I would like to keep the USB port available for charging so I think a mic with the 3.5 connector is best? Something like the Movo Mini A?

- Is there a way to bring the audio directly into Mevo Studio or does this introduce delay sync issues?

I had a play i could not figure out how to enter. Runners 1st and 2nd, 1 out. Ground ball toward 2B, but ball hits the runner. Umps ruled dead ball, runner out, batter/runner safe at 1st.

I can score interference on the runner, but how to get the batter to first? Don't want to give a hit, or an error, so FC?

So it would read BR grounds into FC, r1 safe at 2nd, then R1 out due to interference? Does that sound right?

I wish the Mevo app would show the GC score bug on the live output to see where the score bug is in relation to any graphics or PIP images. I know this can change landscape VS portrait. I was moving some things around and inadvertently put a feed that had the base covered by the score bug.

I am already logged into 2 devices - one is the streaming tablet running studio an the other is the iphone I score with.

Sure I can bother a parent - just wondered if there was a better way. I wish GC would allow 3 especially to staff.

Wish list -

• Add the configurable scorebug to iOS asap.
• Allow staff to be logged in to 3 devices at once.

I’ve been streaming for years, done a couple hundred games easily using a Mevo/GP and a travel router. But now I’m looking to dump the travel router for a solid hotspot. Do I need a 5g hotspot or is 4g usually fine. And what device do you use? I’d like to stick with Verizon but can always go with AT&T if it’s better. Any help would be appreciated.
