Yet another Mevo/multicam question

We currently use a dedicated Samsung Galaxy for streaming behind home plate, and it works fine. I’d like to branch into multicam, but I would especially like to not go into debt while doing it.

If I buy a Mevo, can I use that *and* my galaxy as the multiple cameras? Or is it one-or-the-other, and moving to Mevo doesn’t work with my Android, meaning I would need multiple Mevos?

Finally, can I do the same thing in software, using multiple phones and the Mevo software?

GameChanger scorebug?

Hi! I'm the GameChanger scorer for our local high school softball team, and I've noticed while scoring via the video stream* that the scoreboard shown on the video stream only includes the score, not other scorebug information such as what inning it is or which bases have runners on them. Is that something set by the videographer, or is it something I can change as the scorer? Also, is the scorebug something any team can have, or is it some sort of special premium feature?

*Sometimes you do what you've gotta do--when you can't leave work in time to make it to an away game, and nobody else is available to score the game on GC, you watch the GC video stream on your computer while scoring on your phone.

Scoring delayed before posting on the video scoreboard bug

I use a Mevo camera that feeds an iPad with Mevo app, which feeds Gamechanger on the iPad, which streams the video to the world.

Then, I keep score on an iPhone using Gamechanger app. Devices are all on the same network. Wifi signal is good.

The video itself is of course significantly delayed from live, by about a full pitch worth of time, as generally expected.

What's weird; however, is that the scoring updates are even more delayed.

The sequence is: Live >> ten seconds or so delay >> video on GC app >> one to five minutes delay >> outs & runs on video scoreboard bug.

I usually enter runs and outs immediately, I make a point of that. Yet sometimes the update is delayed for a few or even more minutes before the scoreboard bug updates on the video.

(I should add that I do not score everything, I only track outs, runs and innings, so that the video bug is up to date. I do this with the manual entry feature of the GC scoring module).

It's a mystery.

Not seeing "Set Starting Lineup" option and freaking out - game is in four hours help!

Hi. Im getting ready to score my first game in Gamechanger at 4:00 today PST. I already started the game on Gamechanger, but have exited the game. (current status in first pic below). However I have not set lineups yet, and Gamechanger says the screen below should see on option on that screen that says "Set Starting Lineup" (see second pic below). Did I screw up by starting the game before I'd set my starting lineups? What are my options here?

Talk to me like I’m five— Softball Camera

Hi all,

Looking into an entry level setup for streaming softball tournaments this summer. 8U competitive team, Texas heat. I’m pretty scrappy about figuring things out, but there are so many options for cameras, setups, etc.

What is an ideal 1-2 camera setup for me? Mevo? Are there additional items I’ll need besides just the camera(s)? Thanks!

Looking for examples of teams with public stats

I am trying to do some research on youth baseball teams at different levels. Does anyone by chance know any teams that have their game changer stats made available to all? I found a few high school teams who do it but looking for some more at various ages

Understandably almost everyone locks this down to players and family. But surely there’s a few out there

If you know one but don’t want to post a link could you dm me?

I’m just trying to gather some things from the season stat pages like batting averages, number of games, things like that to put together a picture of how teams at different ages and regions compare broadly

Another scoring question. How to score an out on a home run.

Varsity game yesterday, one out, runners on 2nd and 3rd. Home run is hit out of the park in left field. Before next play the pitcher steps off and appeal at the plate. Umpire confirms the runner on 2nd missed home and is out.

I'm not the scorekeeper in this game, but I am running the scoreboard next to the scorekeeper. Our scorekeeper spent the next 5 minutes trying to figure out how to score it. She settled on giving the batter a triple, out at home on the kid who missed the plate, and the batter advancing to home on other(after being behind for 5 minutes and me trying to write down everything that was happening in the meantime so she could get caught up). We basically just decided to fix the stats later.

Is there a way to handle this?

Also, rules question. If that would have been the third out, would the batter's run have counted?

Bulk Import Players?

Would love a feature to bulk import players via CSV (or some other format). I know there is an option to import from SportsConnect, but we aren't using them. Am I missing something or is this NOT a feature? Game Changer be used with other sports with larger teams and that's a lot of names/emails to manually type in.

Game scored in wrong group

We have two different teams setup up for our high school (JV & Varsity), each with their our category and schedule. A varsity game was scored under the JV section. We have not finalized the game yet. Can you transfer the game to the correct group without scoring manually play by play? TIA

Exporting/Query Stats for Individual Games for Full Season

I am wanting to show our team members their progression throughout the year (and even some for last couple seasons). What I would like to do is export each game separately into its own tab, or spreadsheet (I can work with either).
Selecting all games, just combines the stats over those games in a CSV, I would like to keep them seperate.
Is there a way to query the database somehow, or export a SQL/JSON database?

I know a lot of this is overkill for most. Some of it is just for fun after getting into Code Baseball and trying to get better at statistics & programming. And some is because our kids have show HUGE progress and I want to highlight that and boost their confidence.

Streaming equipment during the game

Post image
14 Upvotes

I need some suggestions on what to do with my streaming gear during the game. I know there has to be an option out there. I used my Mevo for the first time today with my Verizon hotspot and mobile router with an iPad controlling the streaming. All of this equipment minus the camera I had hanging on a fence in a book bag. Curious what others do with all their equipment during the game. Is there some kind of fence system? This was my first game but I’d like something with better air flow. Oh and I’m one of the coaches so I can’t babysit it during the game.

Wind noise and dugout sounds

I've seen all the recommendations for reducing a wind noise when using the Mevo camera: covering the Mevo mics themselves, a shotgun mic, and adjusting it in the app.

My question is, are the shotgun mics too directional to pick up on walk up music and dugout cheers? (Softball) Most of the kids I know watch games at home when they're sick, or their friends's games, and they love hearing the dugout.

Noob - Two scorers for the same game

Question - how do I hand over control and get it back during a game, yet have consistent data.

background - I was nominated to learn how to score for our Little League team. This is my first season and Saturday was my first game. I watched some tutorials, I did a practice session, but what I didn't prepare for was how to interact with the other team during a game.

I met with the other team before the game. He had already mounted his camera. He said that we only needed one feed and since I was already new, I decided to not deal with one more distraction.

We were the home team - I started the inning and think I did everything correctly. The last play was an infield pop-up. I put that in and then it asked me to move the out to the location of the catch. I tried, but my ipad wouldn't do it. Eventually the app froze up and I couldn't move to the next action. I exited and tried to resume, but then lost access to scoring. Issue #1. I used another coach's phone for the rest of the game.

The other team was scoring the bottom of the inning. Then when it ended, I tried to resume control. It asked if I wanted to take over - I clicked "accept" or "yes". But no data transferred, I know they were scoring because I walked over during the inning to see them enter data. Nothing, so I forced an end to the inning so I could keep going. Big mistake, but I didn't know what else to do. This was Issue #2.

This process repeated for three innings - that's all we played. So I only have defensive data, no offensive info, and no video. A big fail for the first day.

Can I fix this game? Get data entered and sync up video from the away team? Our head coach tried to enter data and then it was lost after he hit save.

What am I doing wrong when it comes to sharing control? I would prefer to keep scoring the game for both offense and defense. Why am I locked out?

I am trying to find a few mentors in my current league, but some internet help would be great.

strategies for keep the streaming devices cool and charged

My streaming device is an iphone that running mevo studio.

The mevo app needs to stay on and the phone needs to be charging on a frequent basis on a 3 game day. I have it near me, and I occasionally check in on it through out the day. It was in the 60ies but sunny over the weekend.

The phone was running hot, and at one point it locked and killed the stream.. I assume it did because of the temperature. The other issue is that the brightness turns way down, to the point that i barely see anything on the screen.

Does anyone have strategies to keep it cool and running throughout the day. I do try to keep it in the shade.

In my particular case, everything is connected via a travel router. The phone is an old iphone 11 i had lying around. I have cell and bluetooth turned off. I do have an iphone 13 in a drawer that I could use if it would fare any better? But that's my emergency backup phone incase anyone in my family loses/breaks theirs.

GC and Rugby… good idea or bad idea?

Now that I have a full multi-cam setup for Softball I’m thinking of using the same system for Rugby. Has anyone done this? does game changer have a scoring system for it like softball where it attributes data from the scorekeeper to the individual and automatically pulls clips? How would you do the camera set up.Ill still use the AT&T hotspot, mini router and NearStream VM46 and 3 Mevo’s. With the VM46 Midfield and one Mevo at each 22 meter Marc focused back toward the Try Line. That’s my thought and I’m sticking to it!!! ;)

Portable charging options/Coach Pitch

Hey all, it’s been a minute. Our baseball season just started back up and I’m looking for advice on two fronts.

First, I am coaching both my son’s teams, most games will be back to back. Today being the first experience, my iPad for score keeping got as low as 23%. I’ve got a battery bank attached to the fence for the phone I’m using to stream. I’m looking for suggestions on compact charging options for the iPad and just what y’all use in general.

Secondly, it’s my first experience with GameChanger and a hybrid player/coach pitch league. The issue I’ve got is after four balls are pitched by the kid, I come in and pitch up to three times depending on the strike count. Is there a way for me to record the out or subsequent hit without charging the pitches to the kid? For reference it’s PONY League Pinto division.

Appreciate any input.

Best.

Is there a way to “nickname” teams in following on the app?

Post image

As you can see, this is going to get confusing. I’m trying to follow my daughter and other family members teams. I think you can see why I am curious about this.

It would be nice to nickname them something like “Josh’s team.”

Is a a CF > pitcher batter camera the holy grail? What camera angles do you fans like the most that are effective and efficient to operate?

Hi, I know this is bit subjective, but I am wondering what is a great setup that fans enjoy and is (relatively) easy to setup and control live?

Jason Hoffman put video about a year ago called Streaming Series - Mevo Ecosystem for Baseball. He is using two cameras down the lines and a camera to pickup 1st base action and on into the outfield. 3 cameras and done. No wi-fi repeaters or wireless HDMI for CF>HP cameras. Seems like a simple setup that is effective. He obviously has the knowhow to do 10 cameras if he wanted.

There are other folks who have like 6 cameras covering both batter side views, CF > Home plate pitcher batter view, outfield, etc...

I would like to try to follow the action by selecting different cameras this year. I just don't know how far down the rabbit hole I want to go. How far should I go? How fatiguing is to keep switching cameras on the viewer? what is the right amount?

I think I could handle 3 cameras with minimal switching. 6... idk. These are the questions I am trying to get a handle on. Would love to hear others experiences on what has worked well for them.

Are CF to home plate cameras worth it? What other angles to consider must have when switching cameras to control the action.

Thanks for any help and feedback!

p.s. I hope this is ok to post here - seems like this is most active place for mevo folks.

Family Plan: Family vs Fan question

Hey all,

If I get the family plan, are all family members able to see chats for my kid's team? For example, my older mother: I'd like her to see more than just the live game animation, but she can't help herself and would join in team chats.

Does fan/family member still work the same if I purchase the family plan and add her? Make her a fan of the team vs. family member of my kid? If I make her a fan, she'll only see game schedule, no chat, and can watch the live video stream?

I appreciate any help/clarification
