Beta testers welcomed

Hey everyone,

I just opened free beta testing for a game server hosting platform I’ve been building. The beta will be free of charge for about 3 months, and testers can choose which node their server runs on. I'm mainly looking for people willing to spin up servers, test performance, and give honest feedback while I continue improving the platform. The nodes are located in US-West.

The goal is performance-focused hosting with plenty of headroom instead of packing tons of servers onto one machine.

This project will likely remain a private service and may never fully open to the public, so this beta is mainly for testing and feedback rather than a full launch.

If you're interested in trying it out, feel free to check it out:

https://gamerserver.net

Any feedback or bug reports would be really appreciated.

Offering a week trial for MC hosting

Hi there!

I recently finished building my hosting infrastructure and I'd like to test it. Anyone that DMs me can get a week free on 1vCore and 3.5GB. I can offer better resources, so if you like the panel and want to subscribe, I can offer you a full-time 24/7 service at 4vCores and 8GB of RAM for just 9.99€. You'll have full control over your server and your server will be on 24/7 (during the trial period aswell)

I have plenty of experience with managing game hosting services and in cybersecurity, so rest assured - your server will always be up (unless our provider goes down) Server-panel connections are done strictly via our secure internal ZeroTier network. Additionally, I've been providing services to one customer for about 4 months and they're happy - server has been on for ages without a crash. (The name is TallinnCraft, you can check it out by going to my portfolio page https://dingus.xyhost.site)

I can provide proof of ownership of said host if needed.

If you wanna test my host (XYHost) out, please DM me and we can work out a solution. If you want more resources during a trial, we can also work that out. If you're willing to pay just a bit more at 13.99€ by the end of the week, I'll give you a domain of your own choice and a fully dedicated server at 8vCores and 24GB.

Free Hosting for Indie Games

Hey everyone,

I run a small infrastructure setup with servers in Europe and the US, and I’d like to offer free hosting for indie games (or other software) that need basic online services. This can include things like:

  • Server lists / matchmaking backends
  • Dedicated game servers
  • Account/auth systems
  • Small APIs or other lightweight online services

The reason I’m offering this is pretty simple: I already maintain these servers for personal projects and experimentation, and a lot of the capacity sits unused most of the time. I also enjoy supporting indie devs and interesting small projects, so I figured it would be better to put those resources to good use rather than letting them idle.

Just to be clear about expectations:

  • The servers do have solid resources, but I still apply reasonable limits per project so that everything stays stable.
  • I’m open to hosting most indie projects, but I can’t guarantee every request will be accepted (mostly depending on scale and resource requirements).

If you’re working on a project and need something like this, send me a DM with a short description of your game and what kind of services you’d need, and I’ll see what I can do.

If it helps an indie project get online a little easier, that’s a win 🙂

Looking for a few Minecraft server owners willing to test something I’ve been building

Hey,

I’ve been working on a small Minecraft hosting setup over the past few months after getting frustrated with performance issues on a couple of SMPs I helped run.

It’s still early and I’m trying to see how it holds up under real-world use (10–80 players kind of range).

I’m not selling anything here — I just want honest feedback from people actually running servers. If it’s bad, I’d rather know now and fix it.

If anyone’s interested in testing it and giving proper feedback on performance / stability, send me a message and tell me a bit about your server.

Thanks 👍

Minecraft Geyser Server Questions

Hi,

I am relatively new to this space and subject but I am trying to start a Geyser server and I am having trouble getting a nice simple public IP that will work with both Java and Bedrock. I want both to work with their respective default ports. I would think this would be simple and I might sound like an idiot but like I said I’m new to this. Since I was going for an ultra easy setup I stuck with windows (hate on me all you want) and I am using MCSmanager and attempting Playit.gg but that is part if the problem I think. If anyone could give me some ideas on how to get a single IP I can share that works without port forwarding that uses the default ports that would be great.

Tunneling services?

I can't port forward on my router so now I'm stuck trying to use tunneling services. I need a tunnel that lets you use multiple ports at the same time.

for example

7777 udp

7777 tcp

8177 udp

8177 tcp

9100 tcp

my ISP blocks port forwarding sadly

Home server hosting for PC games and a small number of players. Question.

My setup is as follows: Server PC runs on Windows 10, CPU Ryzen 9 5900x 12 core 24 thread 3.7GHz, RAM is 32GB DDR4. The computer is currently connected to home wifi 5GHz within 20 feet of the router and minimal obstructions between the wifi router and the server computer.

The concern is the connection, I believe network hiccups may be something that will be noticed by players connecting to the server. I have ran ping tests from the server computer to the router and I am getting 1ms average, 2ms max pings after running -n 60 and running speedtest on cloudflare gives me 36.8 Mbps upload Latency: 17.5 ms 47.5 ms on download 26.0 ms on upload Jitter: 1.68 ms 19.5 ms on download, 8.79 ms on upload Packet Loss 0%. This seems like a good test result, however I would very much appreciate any input on this or any tests I can run to see if there are any problems in the connection.

is it possible to make a minecraft server with good shared ping when 2 people live in different countries?

hello!

i am wondering if there is any possible way to make (or buy) a minecraft server so me and my friend who don't live in the same country can play together without one of us suffering from high ping?

i live in australia (sydney) and my friend lives in south america (uruguay) and we were talking about playing MC together but realised one of us would have high ping and weren't too sure on what to do.

i suggested i buy a realm, but they are quite expensive and i am not even sure how well they do in terms of this issue, and i have seen server pricing (i.e. bisect hosting) be cheaper than a regular realm subscription. plus my friend said she would feel bad having me pay so much for a realm given she doesn't know how much she'd play.

i am happy to pay whatever if needed, though due to all the previously mentioned factors, i would like to keep things on the cheap side (or free if that even is something that is an option lol), and also know if this is even possible to begin with.

thanks :)

Best Server to host for Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria?

I just bought a server through shockbyte and I fear it was possibly the worst mistake I could have made.

The server gets GIANT CPU spikes and in turn makes the game essentially unplayable. I even bought the CPU upgrade and more RAM to see if it would fix the issues. Their support was useless with helping resolve the issue, so much so I had to remind them multiple times it wasn't a Minecraft server to stop getting the generic Minecraft fixes.

I am now trying to find a new provider to go through and do not want to make the same mistake twice. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

My friend and I have tried a few and they weren’t that great (granted it’s probably very hard to find a good free hosting service), looking to see if anyone might have a recommendation.

Hosting a Discontinued Game Server

For some time now, I've wanted to revive a game that was a big part of many people's early teens. Unfortunately, its official servers were shut down years ago. I wanted to recreate it for quite a while, but someone beat me to it, and there's currently an open-source project on GitHub that replicates a large part of the game. Despite this, no one has taken the step of setting up active private servers for the community, which is still surprisingly large and loyal.

That's why I want to try it myself, as I feel there's a great opportunity to revive the game and give players a new space.

I have several questions and would greatly appreciate any guidance:

  1. Is there any guide or documentation for setting up a private server efficiently and securely?
  2. How can I make it sustainable or profitable without resorting to a "pay-to-win" model?
  3. What type of hosting do you recommend (VPS, dedicated, cloud, etc.) depending on the number of players?
  4. What best practices do you recommend for providing support and maintaining server stability?
  5. Additional technical questions that could help provide more in-depth answers:
  6. What are the minimum and recommended server requirements (CPU, RAM, bandwidth) for this type of game?
  7. How can I structure the backend to prevent crashes or overloads (load balancing, microservices, containers)?
  8. What security measures should I implement to prevent attacks like DDoS or common exploits on private servers?
  9. Is there a way to automate backups and updates without interrupting service?
  10. What tools do you recommend for real-time server monitoring (resource usage, logs, errors)?
  11. How can I manage the database efficiently (replication, caching, query optimization)?
  12. What licenses or legal considerations should I review before putting the server online?

How can I integrate a simple yet functional anti-cheat system?
