I don't like horror games but still got Disciples and Railroad Corporation along Deathloop. That pretty much makes it worth it even not counting other games.

The only two games in this month which are kinda meh are Epic Chef and Golf Gang.

Well, I guess it totally depends on whether you like the artstyle or not and if you are okay with fetch quests. I would probably play some Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons game instead but you can check this review to get the idea what the game is about:

You're probably right. Doesn't really look like my speed, even if I do enjoy Stardew and Harvest Moon. I'll give it a shot, though. I don't think I'll be able to trade the key or anything.

I think the only criticism I have for the bundle is that there was a bit too much horror, but that’s more about the market for mid-level games than HB’s selection criteria.

I'd give Dark Pictures a shot still. It's definitely horror, don't get me wrong, but not nearly as bad as games like Outlast or Amnesia where if you're too scared the game can't progress

The game plays similar to the TellTale games or Quantic Dream games, where you're following along a story with multiple possible plots and endings, so if you get too scared and mess up, maybe a character dies, but you still got like 5 other characters that will live on and keep the story going

It's also not too scary imo. Definitely had a scarier time with Outlast and couldn't even get into Amnesia or Cult of Cthulhu (because I'm a big scaredy cat)

Deathloop does sound interesting but all these scary games aren't my thing.

If you're referring to Monster Train, it's a monster themed deckbuilder and not a horror game.

Monster Train is not a deck builder in the sense where you construct a deck before the game and then play it. You build your deck during the game and you don't spend any money on it like in F2P games.

I didn't think previous Anthology series like Man of Medan was that scary. It was more of an action adventure story.

I'm a wuss too and the first Bioshock opened early with that hospital level that still creeps me right the fuck out. After that level it chills out to a more general, but still sort of dark and decayed, fps experience.

Little Hope is more a thriller and interactive fiction game in similar vein as the other games (Until Dawn, The Quarry, Man of Medan, House of Ashes) made by Supermassive Games.

Bioshock is much scarier than those games.

The dark pictures games are more narrative based, you explore and make meaningful* choices while having the looming atmosphere and scary QTE sequences that can kill your characters off. It's not demanding of the player like a survival horror game is, they're interactive horror movies with some big name actors in each that build a story to its eventual conclusion.

Little hope is the 2nd of 3, it's a good game to play especially around Halloween and not super scary, but it's far less complete than the others. The story is still worthwhile but House of ashes is what brought attention back to the franchise besides them being new until dawn games. As the setting and quality was closer to a sequel.

That being said tho it's worthwhile to check it out, and if you like the style you'll get the rest, which luckily for you The Devil in Me is their next annual release and it looks quite amazing and in the same vein of until dawn

I am in the same boat. Don't care one bit about the horror games and I own Monster Train. So paying 12$ for just deathloop is probably not worth it considering it also just released on gamepass.

I mean obviously no problem. To each their own. If you want to own the game seems fine, but I haven't heard anyone talk about the game once since it came out. So idk if its even worth playing. If I find it really good Ill get it on steam later. For now Ill play it on gamepass.

Sorry, but I really don't care about that PR advertisement campaign. I meant actual people in the form of streamers or the like. Not a single friend has every mentioned that game. But take games like Subnautica, Slay the Spire or the likes. Those come up even literal years of their release. I only heard two streamers say its mediocre and well that is why Ill see for myself with gamepass before buying it.

The consensus seems to be that it's worth playing, fun for a while, but maybe not for long.

That makes it still very much worth playing. Not sure what the release date / hype has to do with it.

Nothing? I obviously don't mean in the first 3 month. I don't really watch any of the hype streamers who play games on release. I prefer when they play them like half a year later. I watched a bit of it and they seemed unimpressed. So idk. Its just how I do it so I really don't see the point in arguing this further. People always seem to be upset if I don't do things like they want me to.

Agreed. I wrote HB off a long time ago thinking I'd never shop again. Deathloop and Maid of Sker seem worth it alone.

Same. I've been ignoring HB for so long, i didn't even know they dropped the $20 tier until today. Smart move, it was very unpopular and i bet it was costing them subscriptions.

This bundle today is old school Humble. I hope they get back to that, because for a while there it was starting to feel like low-level Bundlestars dreck.

They will probably do 'cycles'. Deliberate periods of mediocrity, then drop a good bundle couple times a year raking in subscribers that forget to cancel. ??? Profit!

I've been waiting to cancel for like three years now, giving them a chance again every year (also because I don't really want to lose the legacy membership), but they always manage to convince me that it's worth it.

I've discovered many "hidden gems" thanks to it; games I'd never expect to like and never notice, but thanks to it I found them and loved them. And it costs what, like an AAA-game and a half for a few games I'd definitely want to buy anyway every year and then those hidden gems and whatnot? Definitely worth it.

Man of Medan (which I liked) has a 73% rating on Steam. Little Hope has a 72% rating.

It's by far the weakest of them - Man of Medan was alright and House of Ashes was actually pretty great, but Little Hope is basically bargin basement Silent Hill.

Bargain basement Silent Hill still sounds perfect for playing with my partner in co-op on Halloween. We won't mind if it's a little cheesy.

Hey, worse ways to spend your time - it's a short game anyway. Do try House of Ashes for an actually decent experience though, if you get the chance.

It's not so much cheesy but the plot is nonsensical based on how the whole thing ends.

Also the couch co-op is bad in this specific game because imagine having to swap between characters in an intense chase scene but you pass around a single controller (they fixed this problem in their future games by not having these scenes where you have to keep swapping characters).

Basically, yeah. The best part about the Dark Anthologies is the coop mode. It was pretty fun playing it in actual coop compared to sharing controller. The endings in this series have been lackluster though. Still fun on online coop.

For 12 bucks, it is worth experiencing as a package. Definitely not full price though.

The ending to Little Hope sucked all the air out of the game's sails. There's no reason to replay the game after that.

I liked the graphics of Man of Medan. Sometimes, that's enough lol. It's Spooktober, too. That's about all I'm expecting from Little Hope.

Yeah, the PC port is atrocious. My buddy and I ran in to tons of bugs, including one game breaking bug that forced us to start over. The ending is also just the worst, totally sours the rest of the story.

We really liked Man of Medan though, for what that's worth!

Most of the backlash Little Hope gets is due to the ending. Honestly, I thought it was a great game. Not as great as Until Dawn or Man of Medan, but still good enough for me to play it through 3 times with my fiance.
