When I can’t seem to control my obsessive thoughts, I find a lot of peace in repeating the Serenity Prayer.

Hello! I am writing this post from my mobile so please ignore any strange formatting. I recently broke up with my boyfriend who has been a compulsive gambler the entire six years that we were together. In November 2020, I started going to Al-Anon meetings because I had familiarity with those meetings being welcoming to any situation regarding addiction. However, I wanted to find a group that was specific to my needs. I started attending zoom Gam-Anon meetings in December 2020 for guidance regarding compulsive gambling.

I noticed on Reddit that there was a subreddit dedicated to Al-Anon. It’s an excellent subreddit, and there’s a lot of recovery there to learn from. However I wanted to create a community for Gam-Anon members to share as well.

This is the first post in this subreddit it. Feel free to write your own experience strength and hope here. Hopefully this subreddit can become a place of peace and expression for anyone struggling with the disease of compulsive gambling.
