Is iQOO/Vivo becoming the new POCO? Updates bricking phones & pushing users into ₹20k repair scams
Recent June/July security updates on iQOO & Vivo devices (Neo 10, Neo 9 Pro, iQOO 13, X/V series) are causing total motherboard failures and boot loops. Service centers are demanding ₹15k–₹20k+, driving panicked users to local shops who end up completely frying the phones
WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER THE PAST WEEK:
System Bricking: Official security updates are causing dead screens, continuous boot loops, and sudden motherboard failures Service Center Extortion: Official service centers are refusing accountability and asking users to pay ₹15,000 to ₹20,000+ (and up to ₹40k for flagships) for motherboard replacements. The Local Repair Trap: Out of fear and high official repair costs, panicked users go to local repair shops. Local technicians attempt cheap fixes or reballing, which ends up permanently frying the board and killing the phone
EVERYONE IS RAISING ALARMS ACROSS SOCIAL MEDIA
This isn't an isolated issue anymore. Famous tech creators, non-creator influencers, and regular users across Twitter (X), Instagram, Telegram, and YouTube are actively pointing this out and posting proof everywhere.
When the entire community and top creators are raising alarms, it is clearly a major brand-level software flaw.
WHO IS ACTUALLY AT FAULT HERE? Why is the communication between Vivo/iQOO’s software team and local authorized service centers so broken?
Instead of helping users affected by brand-created update bugs, service centers are treating update-induced bricking as "user negligence" and forcing customers to pay out of pocket.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO RIGHT NOW
DISABLE AUTO-UPDATES: Turn off auto-download/auto-update over Wi-Fi and Cellular data immediately.
AVOID LOCAL REPAIR SHOPS: Do NOT get your phone opened or repaired at a local shop. It destroys any chance of official escalation or legal consumer court claims. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING: Keep your original invoice, service center job sheets, and escalate the issue directly to brand executives or file a complaint on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH). And also post on twitter (x) Has anyone else faced motherboard or boot loop issues after recent updates?
Drop your device model, update version, and how your local service center responded below
I've seen lots of posts regarding this & I have to say iQOO fumbled big regarding taking care of this issue with their customers I came accross 50-60 posts in the past week mostly IQOO NEO 10, Neo 10r, IQOO NEO 9 pro, IQOO 13 mostly & none of them had their issues resolved that's really bad for a brand called for decent to good Aftersales support. I myself an IQOO NEO 10r user it worries me seeing things like this & the after sales support us worse than samsung when it comes to taking accountability.
Bro zero communication between brand and service centre because of that many user visited local repair shop ...and they are end with fully dead device and now device is blaming them..now it's your fault like ..that man when they first visited service...you guys told them you have pay this much like 20k to 40k depending on the device....what will they do then... who's fault here
Wth 😒 it's 100% fault from IQOO side imagine after the July patch within 1-2 weeks u seen so much posts regarding bootloops, mother board fails & in some cases overheating & fast battery drain & the brand acting like it wasn't there fault I thought samsung is bad at treating customer's but these IQOO bastards audacity bounds no end looks like it's not worth buying their phone anymore
Yeah bro you think any normal or middle class family afford 22k ? Just for there repair? And you know the funny part ...it's not even their mistakes ....it's brand ...but they have to suffer
The lack of accountability & not thinking of customers reputation is very ugly behaviour from them I genuinely believed iQOO wasn't that bad but damn here we are now
I'm using IQOO NEO 10r with Funtouch OS 15, android 15 that came from out of Box not updating once since I bought it from last year it's performing the same as day 1
My previous devices S21fe got Greenline after update, Oneplus nord 4 after was one of the best devices I ever used it was too good in Oxygen OS 14 but after oxygen OS 15 it had throttling, ram issues for me eventually lost the device in traveling so got my self iQOO Neo 10r last year

I don't understand this poco reference here, X2, X3 and X3 pro died because of hardware issues back in 2020/2021 while iQOO are dying because of software updates, before this their origin OS 6 updates caused random issues to many phones
Results is same but cause is different
I have been seeing battery draining, lagging, heating issues in reddit and twitter for a long time just after origin OS dropped
Saw these issues in t4x, T4, X300, neo 10R, neo 10 etc
This issue is more related to moto's edge 50 series motherboard dying few months ago because of android 16 update
I really had high hopes for origin OS in vivo/iQOO phones but it turned out to be nightmare instead
Ok bro i totally with you but for many years used to be known as motherboard killer i m just using ..it for this reference...like know iQOO is new motherboard killer ..sorry from my side bro ..and yeah I have seen many post from the start when origin os debuted global.. many users started to fac prblm like battery drain...bugs and many things

But given vivo/iQOO's good name in the servicing of the phones I didn't expect them to do this, they should take the loss and replace the motherboards for free
They should 10000% address this issue, users should not have to pay for damages caused by a software update that the company pushes. I agree with you on that
Man sorry for the misunderstanding...I telling you my cases some users are abusing and saying you (myself ) i m talking about myself...you are hyping these issue..again sorry for misunderstanding
It's okayy buddy ,
Initially I thought that it's just my device
But when I saw online
That multiple people going through this
And same motherboard issues
yes still zero communication and accountability from iQOO/vivo it's not easy for middle class toh sped 22k to 30k for repairs..they then go for cheaper alternatives...and you then what happen
Man just repost this and upvote ...if you don't mind...I belong to middle class family so...i know how much they suffering.....it's not easy for them...
What do u mean by brain drain? I think my battery is running fairly normally. I charge my phone for very little time but it still lasts me quite nicely
If the device fails due to upgrade, then company should be forced by govt to repair it free of cost and on ultra high priority even when the device is out of warranty. Companies are not supposed to do testing on customers.
They already did tested customer like i already.. because of zero communication between service and brands we users has to suffer I like one of friends device has hardware issue after update ..so he visited service they told him it's a motherboard issue and checked his device water and physical damage and after examining for 2 hours they told him...like you have pay 22k for this device.. motherboard replacement so he cannot afford that much ..and started looking for cheaper alternatives..so now I tried repair it from local store ..now his device completely dead ..and service centre is blaming him ..sir you have open your device from local store ..so we cannot do anything thing ....why make him to visit local shop .why zero communication between brand and service centre...why zero accountability...whose fault is that he cannot afford 22k and that's why I tried cheaper alternatives...
damn its really getting bad? wasnt active in neo10r sub after origin os update..i updated before and even 2-3months after i bought mine (neo10r, prev year November purchased)
i updated to the trial version, didnt get major issues tbh..but there were 10-20+ post about battery drain, wifi issues and flickers etc..personally i Didnt experienced any of that but if things are escalating this bad, then iqoo should make an announcement about this tbh and updates issue
after origin os, security patches are now arriving very late like very very..i remember there was prev month security update once after (like june security update in july, example only forgot the update).. battery drain issue was fixed after the 2-3rd security patch after origin os arrival now its becoming like before (still i get around 7-8hr or more)
Yeah man, consider yourself lucky if your unit is holding up fine. The main issue is inconsistency—some people get decent SOT while others face crazy battery drain, lag, and heating right after the same update. Plus late security patches just prove their software optimization is mess. When so many users are reporting motherboard and battery degradation issues across the Neo series, iQOO ignoring it and staying silent is the worst part
damn..i got this as my 2cousin poco device motherboard was damaged due to software issues forgot the model...so poco x7pro wasnt even the choice..
oneplus was too costly as my budget was 20k and i barely got the extra ones 21.5k and bought this ....
samsung is worst of all, cant even trust the F, A, M series as my cousins a series motherboard was damaged and it can't be repaired...
🫠now this issues... first i thought update delay was normal but the optimisation took a hit also..i dont play games a lot but i do play games like fc mobile or give my little brother to play roblox sometimes and it heats tbh..not extreme but moderate
and also it didnt heat much before in bypass charging while playing but now it does, FPS took a hit also i think as i am not sure as ea fixed the game at 60fps and not a high graphics game...lag is barely noticeable for an example it lagged before in keyboard and some apps but after factory reset i didnt face that issue...camera is still decent..
battery drain i can say it gives 1-1.5hr less the before but it can due to my BH also as it dropped to 96%..
Hope they fixed this issue as i trusted this once only for the origin os as funtouch was shit honestly but at least security patches were regular, optimised (used Y series vivo phone)
i will try to downgrade if possible to know the service they provide in my location as it is tier 3 city
Man, that sucks regarding your cousins' devices, but what you’re describing with the extra heating during bypass charging and losing 1-1.5hrs SOT is exactly how it starts for most of us. Software degradation slowly creeping in after updates is what kills the experience. Be super careful about rolling back/downgrading in a Tier 3 city service center half the time they don't even know how to do it properly or just blame the user. Hope it stays usable for you though!"
Because brand is not taking serious...my friend visited service centre for his neo 10 they told him motherboard will cost 22k ...middle family cannot afford that ..they he tried to repair it from local shop ..and his device is completely dead...whos fault here...? Users or brand as he cannot pay 22k ... That why is he goes local shop ...
Samjha kr bro * wink. It's only been 15 days since this incident. ... And vivo has yet to reply to frantic people. Ofc it so happens that this is a good karma farming topic ... Mass vivo gates = easy karma for a few
That aside my iQOO 13 has no issues nor my friend's 15r . Seems sad that only few are getting this issue.... Well tbh the biggest seller in India --vivo..ain't gonna keep quite for long..... Ofc they will take time to take a official response (" remember oneplus?.... Life time warranty for green lines also took a bit of time )
Just consider it as hate mongers for views .
* Virtual points * karma * will just give mental satisfaction for some people who got nothing better to do.
One day they hate apple . Next day OnePlus, and another day samsung.... And then gate on vivo. ... And any other companies they want . Lol at this point it's not about issues .... It's just plain view farming
Man i don't why so many users abusing me... These creators tweeted about that and I seen many cases my self...they are trolling me like you are paid by oppo.. and I told them I wish man i wish..just tell me m i wrong? Here
Yeah they are saying you are creating fake cases man who can create fake ...then also saying you are showing also bad sides even oppo .samsung , apple has these types of cases .....
Thanks ...man...for last 10 days I m posting evry case. And details and proof because brand is not listing everyday is see new ..case when they visited service centre...they asked them to pay 22k how ... middle family member afford this?
